bride and groom standing next to their motorcycles

August 10th, 2010. My soon to be husband and I rode our motorcycles 1300 miles from Metro Detroit to Sturgis, South Dakota and got married in Custer, at the Blue Bell Lodge. I’ve got the raccoon face going in the above pic from sun and windburn, but I figured there was no getting around that. What you can’t see in the above pic is the bandage on the inside of my right calf – I developed a blister from the hot pipes on my bike during the ride out.

From there we set out on a two week honeymoon going to the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, the Bonneville Salt Flats, Las Vegas, rode part of Route 66 and stopped in Kingman, AZ, then the Grand Canyon before returning to Sturgis. At roughly 500 miles per day, we rode over 6,100 miles in two weeks. We got a KOA cabin in Kingman, otherwise, we were camped in a tent with everything on our bikes.

This was the trip of a lifetime with the man of my dreams and the happiest of days.

Just Married signs on motorcycles.
