Those who know me know I’ve had camping on the brain pretty much the whole summer and I’ve really tried to soak up every warm day we’ve had since last winter. Now the weekends are dwindling as I try to cram as many more camping weekends in as I can.
Early this season I started seriously thinking about toy haulers. With our love for riding, it’s the next logical step. A toy hauler would let us combine camping and riding, and with Michigan summers being as short as they are, it only makes sense. There have been so many gorgeous camping weekends that I wished we had our bikes! We currently have a little 22 ft. tow behind that we recently remodeled, and if it weren’t for riding, we’d probably keep it until it fell apart.
So the search is on! We will likely wait until next season to pull the trigger unless we find a deal we can’t pass up, but that doesn’t stop me from shopping online, almost daily. There’s a lot to know in making an informed purchase, especially if we decide on a fifth wheel, which will be new to us.
Here is my latest obsession – a 2006 Salem Sport, made by Forest River. I have yet to figure out how this 35 ft. camper will fit in our yard, but you can guarantee I will make it work, should we end up with a rig like this.
So today we’re off to the MARVAC Camper & RV Show in Novi to check out the new models, get an idea of what we’re looking for and gather information. Even though we’re not in the market for new, it’s fun to check out the new models and features, and learn about manufacturers.
Please share in the comments if you have any direction for my search, I’d greatly appreciate it!
Funny how the word camping can conjure up different images for different people. But I have seen those huge RVs with the toy hauling section in one end. Good luck with your quest.

Haha, yes, that is so true! I still believe true camping is sleeping in a tent and cooking over the fire. Maybe I should have named the post Happy Glamping!
I quite enjoy sitting in front of my tent … watching the big screen movie theaters fastened to the side of the ‘glampers’ three or four sites over.(Is that video theft?) Now if I could just do something about having the sound piped over to go with the movie I’d be all set.

I’ve never done a camper vacation but I am dying to do one! It looks like so much fun and I love camping so I think it would be perfect. This camper looks amazing!
There are rentals you could try out! 🙂 I still love rustic tent camping, but glamping is nice, too.. Especially when it rains!
I wish I had useful advice but I have no experience except tent camping and my in-laws have a fifth wheel they like to travel the country in. My husband and I are constantly watching tiny homes videos (well he is constantly watching, I join in on occasion). I can’t wait until we one day have one of our own and upgrade our tent! Not sure if they tow motorcycles though? 😉

Hi Annie, thanks for stopping by! We still enjoy tent camping on our trips out west for the Sturgis rally. Love the tiny homes videos! Makes me wonder how full time RVers do it.. 🙂
