It’s Friday, witches! I hope you are having a spooktacular time enjoying the Halloween season. It’s a season to me since I celebrate all month like some people celebrate their birthday all week. I’ve taken in several movies I’d never seen also, such as Psycho, Frankenstein and Nosferatu – all the originals! I still, however, feel like it’s all happening so fast, so many things I wanted to do and the month is almost over. I think I need to start prepping September 1st just to be able to enjoy October. And yes, I say this every year!

I’m bummed I’ll miss Hallowe’en at Greenfield Village, a MUST experience event if you live in Southeast Michigan. I know my hip can’t take all the walking. We had a ball last year. It’s just as much fun for adults as it is for kids.

In my literary adventures, I’m almost finished with The Lottery and Other Stories, by Shirley Jackson, as number 15 in my quest to read 20 books in 2017 for my GoodReads challenge. This particular book was actually a collection of short 26 short stories (I should have counted them separately, ha!), including The Lottery, which FREAKED ME OUT in middle school when we watched the movie in class on one of those clickety-clackety projectors. The Lottery is the last story in the book and I’m anxious to see how it compared to my memory of the movie. I’m about halfway through the book and many of the stories pretty much have left me baffled. It was like taking a 500 page book, and reading only the 10 middle pages. Many stories ended very abruptly. ?? Have you read any of Shirley Jackson? What was your take?

GRATITUDE
I’m grateful my memory served me well when a guy next to me in traffic at a red light rolls down his window and asked where Lowe’s was.
(Deer in the headlights) OK, where am I and where is Lowe’s in proximity to where I am??
Light turns green..
“Ummmm…. Go to Newburgh and head south!”
“Turn left?”
“Yes, sorry…”
We get to Newburgh and I’m elated to see I didn’t give him the wrong directions..
He waved out his window and I honked and was on my way..  Whew!

Well, here’s hoping you have a fantastic weekend! We’re off to an impromptu camping weekend with my sister and her in-laws. Looking forward to some gorgeous 70 degree fall weather and a new adventure in Camp Cooking!
