It’s coming together, I’m still working on getting my house ready for Halloween. I’m not one of those “early decorator” people, the one you see with Christmas lights up Labor Day weekend. October 1st, or the first weekend in October, the Halloween decor comes out, and I’m in my element dancing around my house to Monster Mash as I unravel strings of orange, green and purple lights.
Honestly, I have not even consulted Pinterest this year for ideas. I’m afraid Halloween will come and go, and I’ll still be glued to my laptop, addicted to the never ending stream of Halloween bliss! Maybe next year I’ll start planning earlier.
Dead tree branches are still one of my favorites. Gather some fallen branches from your yard (or neighbor’s yard), put them in a creepy vase or tie with a black ribbon for a cool centerpiece. When the shrunken apple heads are ready, hang them from the branches for a creepy effect. (More on shrunken apple heads later!)
Anything that glows is awesome. Glow in the dark, glow sticks (plant some in your landscaping), eerie lighting coming from doorways and windows, and of course the trademark glowing orange jack-o’-lanterns.
What is your favorite way to decorate for Halloween?
I saw this idea somewhere; you cut open glow sticks and pour the goo from them along the edges of your stairs and let it drip down. The picture I saw had been done with green glow sticks so it looked like there was green ooze running down the staircase. It was great! I’m trying that one out this year!
Whoa, that would be great!
Love the ideas!
