NaBloPoMo begins!
Today’s prompt is, “When you’re having a bad day with your mental health, what do you do to help yourself?” Thank you for reading and I hope you’ll join me on this 30 day journey.
I wrote about this a bit in 2012 (from which I stole the photo) titled Gloomy Days. It was actually posted on December 2nd, but it fits November, which I’ve always found gloomy. Anyway.
Bad days. We’ve all had our share. Perhaps it lingers into a period of time, not just a bad day, but a funk that stays around a while. What do you do to get through it? I mulled this over today thinking about what I’d share.
- Remember that it’s temporary. Resist letting your thoughts snowball into anything more that just today. Things happen. If you feel guilt about something you did or didn’t do, own it and move on. Plan out what you’ll do to avoid future occurrences.
- Go to bed. A friend told me years ago, “If you’re having a bad day, end it.” Call it a day and hit the sack (if you can). Start fresh in the morning.
- Read. Escape to another world for a while. Blanket, tea, book. Fixes a lot of things.
- Flip through your gratitude journal. Don’t have one? Start! Use it to reflect back on all the happy moments, good days and times when things went right. We focus on what goes wrong way more often than what goes right.
What do you do to get through a bad stretch?
Good tips! I need a few of these today.
Thanks for reading!
