A phone call from a friend this morning (again, thank you @geekymarketer!) sparked the direction for today’s photo outing – downtown Northville. Decorated to hilt for Halloween, I figured it would be the perfect subject on this gray, windy October Saturday.
And it was. Main street was blocked off so that all the little goblins could trick or treat from the shops, food trucks could be found on every street, loads of people out enjoying the festivities with their families.
The theme appeared to be skeletons. They were all along the sidewalks, very creatively done by the Begonia Brothers, at the Haunted Garden Center in Northville. From several previous Facebook posts, I saw that a few friends were out at the DIA, checking out the Dia de Muertos exhibit, or Day of the Dead. It’s a Mexican holiday, celebrated from October 31st to November 2nd, (Hallowmas) to honor the dead, and skeletons are the main ingredient of its symbolism.
Below (and above!) are some of my favorites.
Nice work! And on a perfect gloomy fall day to add to the ambiance. With 5 more days until Halloween, I look forward to indulge in more creepiness!
Those pics were awesome! Wish I would have known about it would have checked it out! Always next year…
I believe it’s up through Halloween.. Would have reached out but I knew you were in the middle of Super Happy Fun Day! 🙂

They were very creative! Halloween is my fave – I’m headed out now to put up more lights! 🙂 My next post will be about my Dead Rock Band!
Those skeletons are such fun! Not sure which I like best, but the laptop user and the hockey players certainly speak to me!
