So I had my topic chosen for today, ideas bubbling in my head, then a monkey wrench was thrown into the mix upon arriving home and sitting down at my laptop to write.
Nothing major, and nothing not fixable, just an aggravating situation that will stew in my mind until I can make a phone call, of course which won’t happen until business hours tomorrow, possibly Monday.
I’m upset with myself that I let it derail my plans, that I let it bother me to this point. And then I remind myself that there are no coincidences, and there is a reason for everything. A letter I received today rattled me and changed my blogging plans for the evening. It led me to choose a new topic – Derailed. What do you do when your plans are derailed, in my case, my blog post for the day. How do you stay focused, how do you fight back and push on regardless? It’s choosing what matters the most. Take a moment, regroup, and plow forward.
I suppose I’m doing it now. I’m still writing the blog post I committed to instead of sitting on my couch staring blankly at the TV, seething about something I can’t do anything about right now. This isn’t the blog topic I planned, but life happened, and I changed directions. Perhaps it was a topic, an issue in my life that needed a closer look.
Have you been in a similar scenario? How do you shove the nagging imp out of your mind and stick to your goals?
I like your thought about no coincidences. Let it ride for the weekend, and if you’re still not feeling better, find the courage next week to take action, or accept the problem of whatever it is that’s bothering you.
Thanks, Britta! All is good, just needed to regroup and go to plan B.. 🙂
