This is a Flash Fiction Challenge (99 words or less) from Christine Bialczak at Stine Writing. I really don’t write fiction, ever, but this challenge gripped me in a shut-up-and-take-my-money kind of way. Haha. Creepy and campfire is all I needed to hear.
“On my hike today I came across this creepy old abandoned cabin.” I poked the glowing embers of our dying campfire with a stick.
“Where?”
“Down the trail along the river, at the fork, it’s the trail to the right. And, there was this old rusted out frame of a snowmobile near the cabin, I think it was an old SnoJet.”
“No kidding?”
“Yeah, it’s got to be 50 years old.”
I was startled awake several hours later, and bolted upright in my sleeping bag.
It was the unmistakable sound of a two stroke motor.
Coming closer and closer.
Wow, talk about a cliff hanger! That is great and you could actually continue to add onto it in so many ways.
Thank you!! Even with my love for this genre, this was tough!
Sounds scary!
Thanks Deb!
