From time to time, my older sister Del would send me a box of things she was getting rid of, things she thought I would like. Household decor, vases, a framed print, maybe a purse or pair of shoes. I loved her taste in these kinds of things, so I was always delighted upon receiving an unexpected box of goodies.
.
One day, back in my twenties, I was sitting on the floor of my bedroom going through some things I’d received from her. My cat, Ebony, sauntered into the room and hopped into the empty box, as cats usually love to do. After a moment, he hopped out, and walked out of the room, with wine cork in his mouth.
.
I hadn’t noticed the wine cork in the box, so I was surprised at his discovery. Later, I called Del to thank her for the box and mentioned the wine cork. She said, “Oh! My cat plays with wine corks. He must have dropped it in the box while I was packing it.”
.
Too funny! I remembered how Ebony came into the room, hopped into and out of the box with the cork in his mouth and left the room, like it was something he’d been expecting. How sweet of her cat to send my cat a toy.
Love this & it sounds like Ebony loved receiving a gift from his cousin too ❤️ 🐈⬛
It was funny how he didn’t bat it around in the box or anything. Picked it up, hopped out and walked away, like he was expecting it.
