We’ve heard of Gratitude Monday and Wordless Wednesday, well, today at approximately 4:15pm, for me it became Gratitude Wednesday. I lost all electrical power in my Explorer just as I exited the freeway coming from downtown Detroit (thank you Jesus, perfect timing!), and made it home the last six miles to my house, no dash lights, speedometer, turn signals, nothing, where I parked safely in my driveway. Blessing #1.
My husband is an auto mechanic who specializes in Ford vehicles. HUGE OMG BLESSING #2. He knew immediately it was the alternator.
Advance Auto had an alternator in stock (Blessing #3) and as we speak, my awesome husband is removing the dead alternator and will be off to purchase and install the new one. Back on the road tomorrow morning for work, without missing a beat, PTO time or carpooling.
Though it wasn’t exactly my goal for the day, the last thing on my mind is right now is being upset over a car repair. It’s a 2007 with 130k miles. Things happen. Nor am I upset about having to shell out an unexpected amount of money right before Christmas. I know what’s it’s like to break down and be stranded. Today, I wasn’t. I know what it’s like to have an unexpected expense and barely have the money to cover it. Today, I was not in that position. This was a mere speed bump in the road of life.
Gratitude Wednesday for sure! And yes, I prayed out loud all the way home. Thank you God!
Can I get an AMEN??
