Okay, topic change. I had to share this because it’s driven me crazy FOREVER and I finally figured it out today. Plus, I searched Google for way too many hours with no results, and I can’t believe I’m the only one to have this problem. So, I hope that posting this saves someone some gray hair that I no doubt sprouted today.
We use Word 2007 at work, but I just reproduced the issue in Word 2010. This is regarding hiding text using the setting under Font, then being able to show and hide the text using the Paragraph Marks button. So basically you select the text you want hidden, go to Font settings and click the Hidden checkbox. Then when you click the Paragraph marker button, you can show and hide the text as needed. This is useful for test writing, for example, when you want the questions and answers in the same document, but want separate views, such as questions only.
So for this example, I wanted to hide the bullets.
But does it work that way?? LOL
That would make sense and be way too time efficient!
Instead, this is what it looks like:
I highlighted the bullets to be sure they were set to Hidden. And they were!
Highlighted, but really only the top one appears selected (it’s a darker gray than the others). Hmmm…
So I tried this..
Bullets still all selected, but I clicked the last stubborn bullet that would not hide, went to the Font settings, and voila! It was not set to Hidden. So I checked the box, and clicked the Paragraph marker button.
If you’re a Word user, I hope this helped! My day has been made.
That’s great but how do you unhide the font?
Highlight the word, go to Font settings and uncheck Hide.
