September’s Night Worms review, “Fall for Murder” took place on our last camping trip of 2020. Reuben and Remnar brought candy in case of any trick or treaters, but no such luck. So after our campfire, they decided to get to it.

Three books this month!  Reuben is posing with America’s First Female Serial Killer, by Mary Kay McBrayer. This is the story of Jane Toppan, a nurse and serial killer from the late 1800s who poisoned over 30 people.

Standalone, by Paul Michael Anderson, appears to be a sci-fi slasher type book, according to the GoodReads reviews.

I love the True Crime and Chill sticker!

I just started reading Shadow Vista, by Charles Colyott and Mark Steensland, about a killer who lurks in an abandoned subdivision of new homes, burying his victims throughout.  All three books came with signed bookplates! And some organic vegan hot cacao from Retreat Drinks to accompany my book and blanket on these cold rainy nights.

Included also is a bookmark featuring the other works by Charles Colyott, and a postcard for Halloween Season, by Lucy A. Snyder, a collection of Halloween short stories!

Which brings us to the October Night Worms unveiling, “Creep it Real” also with it’s own bookmark.

The Loop, by Jeremy Robert Johnson, is described as Stranger Things meets World War Z. Lots of great reviews on this one, and the word “gore” was used several times. Yikes.

The Cipher, by Kathe Koja, is a Locus and Bram Stoker award winning novel about a “funhole” that is discovered in a utility closet of an apartment. The main characters experiment by putting different things into the hole, and well, they come out different. Sounds like an interesting read!

Books and a beverage!! I love finding out what Night Worms will grace us with each month, coffee, tea or hot chocolate!  This month it’s a french roast coffee from Pioneer Joe Coffee Co.!

And I loved the sticker selections for October!  The jack o’ lantern is from Pacific Coast Decals and how cool is Read More Boooooooks by @theinksmithe.

  1. No trick or treaters? Wow hope that isn’t a sign of how Halloween night will be ~ I’ve already broke into my 2nd bag of candy!
