coffee

Hello friends! How happy I am to be having patio coffee again!  I may go for some basil flower tea – I ordered a tea swizzle after learning that you can brew tea from the flowers off your basil plants.  Mine have dried though as I’ve collected them so we’ll see how this goes.

You can also snip the stems off and brew the whole thing.  I’ll do a comparison.

I also have a few other packets of loose leaf tea from my scary subscription boxes.  Have a seat!

My Dad is hanging in there but sleeping more and more. We were happy to get in another Zoom video call with him last week, but this week is questionable. We get daily reports of his progress and still pray we can visit soon.

We had several freeze warnings this past week but it appears my garden survived covered in sheets each night. Bill scored some tomato plants so that is on today’s agenda.

And my cilantro is starting to look like cilantro! I’ll try making salsa this year.

Work is as busy as ever and I am again catching up on things this weekend. We staycationed again last night in our travel trailer, it’s somewhat of a consolation since our camping trips are being cancelled. This is only going to make it difficult to get a campsite anywhere in Michigan, if the parks even reopen. (crying) We’ll see what happens this week, as our stay at home order is supposed to expire on the 28th. I’m thankful we can at least camp in our yard and have backyard fires.

Wow, this tea is tasty!

Another week of full remote work has gone by and honestly, I am loving it. I’m anxious to see how we will manage these precautions once we go back as there is a large population of people in my building. I again must catch up on several project today and tomorrow.

I hope you had a great week are are staying safe!   Stop by Eclectic Ali’s and join in the conversation!

  1. Hi Kathleen,
I did not know you could make tea from basil flowers. We gave up growing our own basil and cilantro because both bolted so quickly and we could not begin to keep up with them.

And you have backyard fires. . . ? Here in California, we’d get reported by some neighbor and end up with a citation of some kind. We have to get out of this screwy nanny state.

    1. Hi Gary! I had Googled about basil flowering when I read you could brew the flowers. So I’ve been picking them off. Yes, my cilantro did the same last year – I saved the seeds and that is what is sprouting now! I love that we can have fires, just about all my neighbors have a fire pit.

  2. I’ll have to try the basil tea. I’m growing Lemon basil in my window, I’ll try to make tea of that later today. Thank you for the idea! Enjoy the rest of your weekend 💗

  3. I’ve never had basil tea before, it sounds interesting! I really like your garden, I’m trying my hand again with a jalapeno plant, a tomato plant and a strawberry plant. I haven’t done very well with plants in the past but my strawberries are blooming now! Good luck on your tomatoes and your cilantro looks great. 🙂 I love cilantro. I would love to have an rv near my house so that I could feel like I’m getting away for a little while. Thank you for the tea and I hope you have a great upcoming week. 🙂
