Good morning on what is supposed to be a balmy 50 degree day! Where has the sun gone? Oh well. We are in Michigan. Good to see you! Come on in.
How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was quiet, just Bill and I, Thursday and also Friday when we usually host his family. We smoked a brisket so between that and our Thanksgiving ham, we’re finishing up the leftovers today! We did our 3rd annual pumpkin burnout pie which featured Kyle Busch’s number 18 Skittles car.
Since we were home and not traveling to see family on Thanksgiving, we decorated for Christmas. We got the tree up and tonight I’ll finish with the lights. I also found a turkey candle holder which I believe was my mom’s.
I was burning a tealight in it and everything was fine until I moved it to start putting dinner on the table, I accidentally set it down on the seam of another placemat, it tipped and spilled melted wax all over the placemat and table runner. Sigh. So I need to try the old iron/newspaper trick to get the wax out.
I did some work in on Friday morning and Friday afternoon I got to paddle with a friend!! We got to explore a new section of the Huron river. Now I’m shopping for cold weather kayak gear. There is another shallow river nearby that I hope we can paddle. I’m tempted to get waders and just walk it first, to see what we are in for.
This week on a Facebook page I follow, a question was posed about the best or any one good thing that’s happened during this pandemic, in the spirit of Thanksgiving. I shared that my family is healthy, no one has yet to be sickened by this virus and that also how thankful I am that my job was not impacted, in fact, this new arrangement is one that I’ve always longed for! We have been remote full time since the middle of March and it does not look like we will be required to report in until well into 2021. I’ve always wanted to work remotely so in a strange turn of events, he we are. Of course, I’d give it all back a in a second if we could turn back the clock to January 2020 and divert this whole disaster. In the meantime, I give thanks every day that I won’t have to slip and slide down an icy freeway into work this winter.
More coffee? I’m about to get out into the sunshine again today and finish up some yard work. We don’t see the sun much this time of year so I’ll make the most of it.
Thanks for coming by!
Taking advantage of the weather is a great way to spend a human weekend. Have a great week.
Sounds like a great weekend! It was only Roo & I with a 20# turkey still have leftovers and freezing them after dinner tomorrow! I also extremely love working from home ~ we need to enjoy while we can. Ok time for coffee and pumpkin pie ❤️
