Kathleen, Jennifer, Barbara and Lori
I must admit, when my alarm went off at 6:30 a.m. on a cold Saturday morning after landing in Michigan the night before from Florida, I didn’t exactly spring out of bed bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. I’m not a morning person by any stretch, but still was really looking forward to our first What’s Brewing meetup, an idea that was several months in the making over margaritas with my dear friend Lori.
Our first meetup took place at the Southfield Starbucks at 12 Mile and Telegraph on Saturday, January 17th, with myself, Lori, Jennifer and Barbara. Normally very crowded, when I arrived it was as if the stars had aligned and the only table in the store with four chairs was available. Perfect! Our small group soon assembled and with our coffees, we spent the next almost two hours talking and sharing ideas.
Not only awesome to meet new people, it was so very cool to hear about where everyone is on their creative path, challenges that are faced (some very common!) and ideas to get motivated and move forward. The structure of future meetups was also discussed, such as possible workshop-type meetups that cover topics like marketing, blogging and social media. Pretty cool stuff!
So, creatives, come join us! The next morning meetup will be Sunday, February 1st to accommodate those who can’t do Saturdays. Venues will vary, it will depend on who plans to attend. We will create events on the Facebook page, so please respond with your location if you plan to come and we’ll find a location central to everyone.
There is also an evening meetup in the works for Friday, February 13th. Grab a cup and stay tuned!
