Out walking with a friend tonight, I shared with her our excitement about our upcoming wedding trip out west, our plans, what’s left to do this week to pack and prepare, et cetera. I’d mentioned that I wished I could pack everything now and get it done with, though there are a few daily use items that could not be packed until Friday night. She made a comment that I thought made alot of sense, one I felt I needed to remember in the midst of OCD while packing our luggage.. “Make sure the important things are packed.. For the rest, you can always stop at Rite Aid”.
She was right. I’m a list maker, I get it from my older sister. It’s a good thing, as others have said I’m extremely organized. But I tend to add stress to otherwise what should be fun (packing for a long trip, heck yeah!!) by continually checking my lists, ones that tend to grow like the scope creep of a project. My friend, however, looks for ways to minimize stress in every situation, and I needed this reminder.
Tomorrow is Tuesday, several days until we load up the bikes, and my list is already being checked off. In my next post, I’ll share with you what’s on my list for long trips. I’ll make the list, you check it twice. Let me know what I forgot!
Great post.
Thank you! I hope Part 2 was informative.. 🙂
