This Halloween weekend was our last camping trip of the year. We’d never camped over Halloween before, but this year WordCamp fell on the Saturday of what would typically have been our last fall excursion. Not many kids in our neighborhood, so I figured we would likely not miss any trick or treaters if we packed up and headed out of town for Halloween.
Arriving in the dark, again, we were happy to find our site very level and within minutes we were set up. Night fell and our campsite was all aglow.
Unfortunately, the forecast for Saturday went as planned and the October night sky dumped rain on all the goblins. We gathered in the back of a friend’s toy hauler, affectionately named the “rec room” playing Happy Hour and Cards Against Humanity, munching on Halloween candy laughing until our faces hurt.
Ah, the smell of mixed Halloween candy..
Sunday was GORGEOUS! Clear and low 60s. I hated packing up on this gorgeous fall day, but gave thanks that a least it wasn’t raining. We went for a long morning walk through the park (hey, we’ve got an extra hour before kick out time, right?) and I could not take enough photos.
But of them all, this was my fave..
We returned home to find no TP in the trees or other “tricks”, so I was glad to see the neighborhood ghouls didn’t miss us either. This gorgeous day continued and I was green with envy of our friends staying at the campground until Wednesday. Beautiful weather is on tap for this week, and the blue sky gave way to dark skies filled with stars.
Well, on to getting ready for the work week and the beginning of darkness until the winter solstice. As we settle in to watch The Walking Dead, we’ll reminisce on another fun filled camping weekend with family. So blessed. Today marks the start of NaBloPoMo, and I look forward to sharing my next 30 days and hearing from other bloggers.
Hope you had a fantastic Halloween!
