It started with a quest for shwarma.
I came up from the cafeteria on Thursday with a salad, when a co-worker asked me if they had anything good down there. They have a new Mediterranean station with shwarma but the chicken looked a bit on the dry side. I opted for a salad.
She suggested Golden Fleece in Greektown for some very good shwarma and that we head out on Friday for lunch with others. Friday was the first day of a gorgeous weekend, what we’ve been longing for! As fellow competitors in our work FitBit challenges, the three of us we went a bit further and passed Greektown, arriving at Campus Martius, where the musical swings had arrived.
How cool! I’d never heard of these, but from what I’ve learned, they are on tour all over the US. Each swing represents a different musical instrument and is triggered when you get in it and swing. It had a peaceful sound, like a windchime, but with a piano, harp, guitar and vibraphone, whatever that is.
What a blast from the past. Swings were my favorite growing up. So nice to get out on this sunny day.
The swings are only here until May 8th, so if you’re in Detroit, check them out and revisit your childhood!
Also, we ended up at CK Mediterranean instead of Golden Fleece. Saved for our next venture!
That’s so great! What musical instrument played when you were swinging?
Hey Dana! Thanks for reading.. I think I was on the piano swing. 🙂
