Friday we rode to Keystone with our friends, in search of the Iron Mountain Road store, where Bill and I had found shirts and other cool souvenirs in years past. We found a place to park and walked back to where we thought the store would be, a rather long, hot hike in boots that are not made for walking. Unfortunately, we learned the store had been purchased by another trinket store, but they carried none of the cool stuff with the actual Iron Mountain insignia, just knock off “I survived Iron Mountain Road” crap. Supposedly there is still a store on Iron Mountain Road.

So we walked back to the bikes. This time, I noticed the laundromat. I have no idea what donkey food laundromat means.

Our next stop was Deadwood, where we walked through downtown for the first time in probably the 12 years I’ve been coming here.

We’ve seen a lot of different bike mascots, but this was the best so far. Ha!

After dinner at Maverick’s we crossed the street to the Bullock Hotel. I wanted to get some photos of the inside as this was one of our favorite episode of The Dead Files. To my surprise, their next ghost tour was in 20 minutes! OMG

My dear husband and friends agreed to partake. I was over the moon excited to walk the same building as our beloved Amy Allen and Steve DuSchiavi.

The tour started in the basement, where we watched a brief video on the history of Deadwood and Seth Bullock. The downstairs bar is still in use today, and I found it especially creepy down here in the dark. I didn’t take successions of photos though, like I should have, to compare.

I also took a photo of a piano in the corner, in totally darkness with my flash. There are several light spots, one near the bottom of the piano and one on the left chair. ???

Our tour guide took us through the different floors and shared stories of past events in the hotel. I have a decent amount of GoPro footage that I need to go through.

We made it back to camp just before the storm hit.

This has happened before, the dark clouds appear over the trees and we scramble to secure and put away everything. This was a pretty decent storm. We sat in the tent as the wind whipped the walls and lightning flashed. I hope no one got hurt on the road trying to take cover.

We survived to see Day 2 of the rally. Saturday we hit Black Hills Harley Davidson and the haunted Hotel Alex Johnson! Stay tuned!
