Welcome back, dear readers! Thank you for coming back for part 4. I divided this into parts rather than days as I don’t have a chance every night to post on my blog. Our getaway is coming to an end soon and we’ve had a ball. It’s always a blend of living in the moment and capturing it so that I can tell a story and look back on it.

Bill continues to trap me in the tent every morning by zipping the tent closed and catching the nylon flap in the zipper, from the outside. Not good when you have a full bladder. Twice my friend Kim had to set me free.

I walked around the loop one morning to the pavilion, where they were serving breakfast and coffee. At one campsite, some guys were stringing up a rope between two trees displaying the U.S. flag and all the flags from our military. One guy, probably about 20 or so, was in the middle holding up the U.S. flag so that it didn’t touch the ground. My whole day was made. Thank you, parents! Great job.

Coffee’d and showered, we were off for new adventures. Monday we rode to Hulett, Wyoming, stopped at a local watering hole and wandered through the vendor tents.

Parked in the alley behind the bar was an early 50s Chrysler New Yorker.

Who remembers curb feelers? Not me. I knew about them but that was before my time.

I loved the way they displayed these rocker patches!

We enjoyed watching Cinder patrol the streets with his deputy. I’m sure Cinder was looking forward to all these damn bikers going home. There were two deputies, and they reminded us of the pair in Wild Hogs. Hahaha.

Our next stop was the Stoneville Saloon out on Highway 34. It’s grown quite a bit since we were there last.

Spools and tree stumps make for the outdoor furniture. The women’s restroom is awesome! I didn’t get pics but it’s of the “country barn wedding” decor and very nicely done!

The entire inside of the ancient house is filled with grafitti, and there are Sharpies in every room. We searched the two upstairs bedrooms but our past grafitti was lost in the scribbles. I liked how this corner was tagged, from the inner wall to the outer stone in the corner.

I love the old linoleum. I need to research the history of this house.

The ATM just cracked me up. But I was glad to see one.

We saw LOTS of Indians this year! They had a trailer set up in Deadwood, our next destination.

I fell in love with the Indian Scout Bobber. Super low seat height and I love the matte black.

Kim and Bill registered to win one, as did I. Not 24 hours later, Bill began to get calls and emails from our local Indian dealer. Way to be on the ball, folks!

Tuesday we stopped at Black Hills Harley Davidson, mainly for the S & S tent. The massive parking lot is always a sea of bikes.

Bill got to talk to Scott, who helped him a great deal several years ago with lifter issues. We were disappointed to learn, however, that demo days would not be taking place this year Sturgis Dragway. Bummer.

And of course, some great shirts were to be found.

More to come! Thanks for sticking around on this journey..

  1. It looks like you’re having so much fun!!! I’m heading out on my longest road trip for this year in six days. That’s going to be exciting! I agree with what you said in the beginning, it’s sometimes challenging t find the balance between documenting the present, and savoring the moment. One of the finer pleasures in life 😉

    1. I can’t wait to hear about your new venture!! I know it must be bittersweet.. I’m hoping it’s more sweet!
