Well, that’s our tentative group name.   Our newly formed small group met this evening at Lifechurch in Canton, to embark on our first motorcycle ride together on this gorgeous late May evening.  Our destination, Cold Stone Creamery in Canton, at Ridge and Cherry Hill.  Tonight was a small group with only four bikes, but smaller groups are just fine, my preference, actually.

As we waited for any stragglers, we discussed the group name, which for now is Life Riders.  “Alex’s Kids” also came up, after Alex Rahill, our lead pastor.  Personally, I thought a caricature of him on a motorcycle would make a pretty comical logo.

Jim, our fearless leader, came up with a great route which included taking us to Whitmore Lake and back, but we shortened the route due to our schedules and still had a decent weeknight ride. We started out heading west on Warren Rd. and turned north on Beck, where we picked up North Territorial and headed west again.  Continuing on several miles into the setting sun, we then turned south onto Dixboro into what I refer to as “rural awesomeness”.   This was a very, very cool ride, thanks to Matt and Jane for the suggestion, who live in the area and ride these roads often.   Full, huge trees lined the road and their lush leaves casted shadows that danced on the asphalt.  It was a rather windy evening, but still warm as we approached the evening hours.

Dixboro took us to Geddes Road where we headed east and through a beloved roundabout.   From Geddes we turned north onto Ridge Rd. and east onto Cherry Hill, where we reached our destination, the Cold Stone Creamery.  Inside were Brownies galore (a troop of girls!) who were helping the workers mash delectable additives into their already delicious ice cream.   With our evil concoctions, we headed back out into the beautiful early summer evening and gathered by a nearby fountain to enjoy our treats and each other’s company.

Monday evenings are the plan for now, to continue to ride together, welcome new riders and to also provide ministry in areas of need.  A monthly event in addition to riding weekly is also amongst the plans.

Come join us!
