Day 11 of NaBloPoMo. What would you do with an extra room in your house?
Ha. I’d fill it with books and make a library. Google “home library” and click Images for a gagillion photos of awesome ideas. I’d love to post them here but I’d like to avoid having my chops busted for copyright. So the above pic is my own, my beloved bookshelf from IKEA, which I couldn’t even fit entirely into the shot. It takes up an entire wall in my office, but I LOVE the idea of building wooden shelves right into the walls and stack books from floor to ceiling. With one of those sliding ladders. And this chair!
And plenty of light for reading. Natural light from a doorwall that opens out onto a deck with a comfy chaise lounge.
And maybe a coffee bar with a Keurig.
If I had an extra room, I’d just go into it and close the door. I didn’t do that enough when we had rooms with doors to them, I suspect because you don’t appreciate that option until it’s no longer available. When I did have a spare room (I can’t help but think of Anne), I had a wall of bookshelves (not built-in, but still), a bed for company and for reading on in front of the open window, and a desk for writing. I do miss that room…
