RVillage

Today I was happy to learn that the RVillage app was made available on the App Store and Google Play. It’s a cool camping and RV social network where you can check in at campgrounds and RV parks across the country, meet other campers, share stories, photos and join groups of others with similar interests. I used it throughout this past summer at the various parks we stayed, and have met several local campers as well.

It was accessible via a smartphone before, but you needed to get to it through the browser. Now it’s much easier to access by tapping the icon. I was kind of bummed though, to find that it kept crashing on my tablet. It’s an older tablet though, so perhaps it’s just not supported. I’ll be using my phone’s data signal more at the campsite anyway.

Yes, I know, smartphones at the campsite – UNPLUG AND ENJOY NATURE!!! We still do, believe me. But we find so many cool or funny things to share – like the time I heard a bird chirp and thought it was my Twitter notification. RVillage is a cool way to meet other campers, get help with a problem, find new parks to explore, anything related to your love of camping/glamping, even create and host get togethers. There is also an RV Marketplace feature where you can find needed services and/or supplies.

I’m looking forward to using this app this this winter as I deal with camping withdrawal, I can keep up with others down in the warmer states as they live out my dream life.  Sigh. I can see how full timers would really make use of this app to meet new neighbors.

Do you camp/RV?  Check it out and perhaps we’ll meet up down the road.
