Day 1 of NaBloPoMo! Here I go again.. I invite you to come along as I challenge myself again this year to write 30 blog posts in 30 days. Blogger friends, join the linkup over at BlissfulLemon!
Today, November 1st is Global BA Day, where business analysts all over the world were challenged to post a video of their rant of what a BA is and what they are not. I’d stumbled across this on Twitter the last week of October, and the hashtags #GlobalBADay, #BARant, #IdoBusinessAnalysis brought up tweets from BAs across the industry.
I decided to begin self study in this field as it aligns very closely with the project work I already do, and I enjoy it. I joined IIBA, grabbed my PDF of the Business Analysis Book of Knowledge (BABOK) and I’ve been reading on my own and going through YouTube videos on the topic.
My plan is to eventually sit for the Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) and then the Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) exams. I need to document LOTS of project hours for to be eligible for both, so the exams are a ways off, giving me plenty of time study and apply it to my work. I have continual opportunities at work to gain the experience and for that I’m so grateful.
So. As an aspiring BA, I’ve been watching the hashtags, although there haven’t been a ton of responses. Perhaps it’s the first year, I don’t know. But I look forward to watching the videos and get others’ insight on this career path.
I’ll be sharing my journey here on my blog, as I do with other happenings. Thanks for reading!
