Day 23 of NaBloPoMo. Today’s prompt is What is the weirdest/grossest thing your pet has ever done? I’ll opt for weird, not gross. You’re welcome. 🙂
This is my beloved Ebony. He was born April 16, 1991 and he left me on July 14, 2009. I had the best cat in the world for 18 years. I’ve loved all my fur children, but he was truly mine. He loved to be held, petted, he’d sleep on me, and he’d answer when I’d talk to him. His fur was thick and glossy, and always smelled like new carpet. No joke! He was awesome.
One thing he used to do I’ll never forget was he’d know when I was arriving home, long before I’d put my key in the lock or set the alarm on my car. Bill first noticed it when we lived in an apartment for a year, from 2003 – 2004. He worked midnights at the time, so he was home when I got home from work and left for work shortly after. Ebony would get up or jump down from wherever he was, minutes before I’d walk in, sit in the hallway and stare at the door. I thought it was because he recognized the beep from setting my car alarm, but others parked outside our building did the same, and came and went through the main door to the building. This happened at different times, too, so I don’t know how he knew it was me entering the building and not a neighbor.
Who knows, maybe he got used to the approximate time. I just know that I still miss him terribly and can only hope that when I get ready to check out he’ll know and be waiting for my arrival once again.
