It’s Day 22 of Nano Poblano and the finish line is in sight! Thank you for coming along with me on this journey. I thought today I might put some words around what I plan to do during hip replacement recovery. I’ll be taking it easy, of course, but I’m also instructed to get up and walk as much as possible, so I’m expecting to be able to make my way around the house and get a few things done here and there as I heal.
Some of the things I have planned include:
- Scanning my library of books into the Bookshelf app (I’m not an affiliate, I just love it!). This will be handy when browsing used book stores or book sales when I think I might already have a copy, or if discussing books and need to look something up. You can list all the books you own on customized “shelves” you can set up, as simply as scanning the ISBN number. Even track when you loan or borrow a book!
- I think I’ve narrowed down the treadmill I want and I can’t WAIT to walk and either read my Kindle or listen to podcasts. I had a daily FitBit Goal Day challenge with some friends, which I’ll be starting again once my daily steps are back up where they are. I HATE how sedentary this pain has made me.
- So. Much. Stuff to go through in my office. Boxes, papers, etc.. I really hope to spend some time sifting through some things, minimizing, decluttering and making some room in my office.
- On that note, I have several boxes from my Dad’s house, photos and what not, to go through and hopefully condense.
- In addition to reading for pleasure, I’ll also do a bit of studying. There is always something to learn in the instructional design industry and I snagged this book not too long ago. It would be good to brush up on some things and be ready for 2023 projects when I return to to work.
So I think that will keep me busy for a while. Looking forward to the home stretch!
Interesting app. Never heard of it. Let me know if you really like it… I might consider trying it if I know it’s good. Wishing you peaceful days as you get closer to surgery! We are in the process too… My husband is having surgery December 6… So good luck to both of you!
I really like it so far. AND I found a new, local used bookstore! I can’t wait to visit it!! I will keep your hubs in my prayers too!
Homestretch!

Good luck with the surgery, and hope for a quick and easy healing. My daughter had knee surgery about a year ago and I remember when she was in PT they expressed to the hip patients to walk, walk, walk.
Thank you! I miss walking SO much. And it shows! LOL
Inspiring, especially the part about the treadmill. Good luck with your recovery!
Thank you! I can’t wait to get back on a regular exercise routine!
