Good morning and come on in! I’ve got some interesting varieties of Bones coffee and several teas, if you’d like. Make yourself comfy. How was your week? I’m afraid this is it for our nice weather, although morning campfire coffee sounds nice. Perhaps one day we can warm up by the fire outdoors and catch up. We might see flurries next week.
Yesterday I dug up my sole surviving poblano plant, potted him and brought him inside to see if he might thrive a bit longer. He was a super late bloomer this year. The peppers are teeny tiny so we’ll see what they’ll do.
I moved my decomposing pumpkins from the porch and put them on the firepit in the backyard. I wanted to allow the critters to munch on them a bit longer, and that they did!
My cowboy candy arrived safely in AZ at my brother’s. He texted me to thank me for the “jalapeno honey”. Hmm. Apparently the jalapenos shrunk to the point where the syrup they are packed in became the focal point. But it was my first successful canning attempt and my brother thought they were delicious. I can’t wait until next year, I’m thinking canning homemade pasta sauce and lecso with all the tomatoes, and more cowboy candy!
Bill left this morning for Eastern Pennsylvania to pick up a bike he won in an eBay auction. It’s a 1970 Kawasaki Avenger, the very first bike Bill remembers his Dad having, which became Bill’s first bike. He’s found it numerous times up for auction, but was outbid each time. I’m excited for him and can’t wait to see the bike.
So with that I’ll have the house to myself today. I’ll catch up on some work for a few hours, do some reading and maybe search for some December blogging challenges, as I’ll have some time on my hands.
Thank you Natalie for hosting our Weekend Coffee Share! Looking forward to caffeinating and catching up with you all!
Enjoyed reading this post. Your story about the “jalapeno honey” brought a smile to my face.

Aw, I’m so glad. It cracked me up too! Thanks for stopping by!
The squirrels are so cute. They must be quite happy to find your pumpkins. Thank you for your weekend coffee share. Have a great week ahead!

Thank you! Yes, I think I will start doing this every year. I just hope I don’t attract unwanted critters..
The squirrel in the pumpkin looks so cute and definitely have a go at preserving more things.
I’m excited to try! My mom canned all sorts of things years ago. I wish I’d paid more attention.
Hi Kathleen – congrats to your husband on finally getting his motorbike that will come with accompanying memories. Glad the squirrels got to enjoy the pumpkin for a bit longer and well done on the jalapeno honey.
Thank you! It’s here and he’s so happy. We’ve been enjoying watching the squirrels come get their Thanksgiving dinner.
I love the pic of the squirrel actually IN the pumpkin–so cute!

Ha! Me too! I love the one where he’s holding the sides..
Hi Kathleen,
If you’ve never done it, I really like the weekly 99-word story challenges from the Carrot Ranch & Charli Mills. Each one spins me in a unique direction, but I can do most of them is less than an hour from having the prompt in mind (Charli can be kinda playful about getting to the actual story challenge each week) to a posted story. Doing this weekly effort has made me a much better writer.
Care to come out a play with us each week?

Aw, thank you! Shari from Writing Sparkle mentioned it to me too. I should give it a go, it would be good practice.
I’m sending good thoughts for your husband’s safe travels! Wishing you a lovely day with the perfect amount of self care time!
Getting cold here too now. Stay safe and warm!!
Thank you, both he and the bike arrived safely about 1am this morning. We just successfully got it off the truck which had me quite anxious, but we got it done. You too, stay warm and have a great week!
N8ce visiting with you. Have a great week.
There’s this little urban farm close to my house and they have chickens who love to snack on pumpkins. Since Halloween is long over, they’ve been asking the neighbors via Nextdoor to drop off the pumpkins to their farm.
I was hoping there would be a farm relatively close. All the ones I heard of taking pumpkins were several hours away.
I also enjoyed reading about your “Jalapeño Honey” or cowboy candy! Sounds like it was fun to make. I’m from Eastern Pa. Happy traveling to your husband!
They are SO good! I can’t wait to make some again. Thank you! He went to Lackawaxen for the bike.
