On the heels of my last post, one of my efforts will be carrying my camera again everywhere. I must confess, I had stopped carrying it for a while. At my old job, I was blessed to be able to take a scenic parkway on my route to and from work. I would often stop on the way at numerous places if I saw something interesting to photograph, and always had my camera with me. Now I work in downtown Detroit, and since urban photography is not really my thing, I got out of the habit.
The other day I received what I was hoping for – a 30% off Kohl’s coupon. Ha! Armed with that and my two gift cards from Christmas, I headed to Kohl’s to freshen up my work wardrobe. I don’t know if this happens to you, but it’s failproof for me – I didn’t find a thing in terms of clothes. Go to the mall without money, and you’ll find everything you want. Go shopping with money and the intent to buy clothes and I never find a thing. Always.
So naturally, I headed to the Accessories department. I have a bag fetish – purses, bags, duffel bags, backpacks, etc. I think it’s because I like things organized and bags are a great way to keep things together, especially anything that comes with smaller parts.
I don’t buy expensive bags. Never have, never will. I once choked and spat out my drink when a friend excitedly told me she found a Coach purse for $175. (But it was $350 regular price!!!)
OMG. To each her own. I like variety and change purses out rather often for a change of pace, so it doesn’t matter to me how well a purse is made and that it will last a lifetime. I won’t be keeping it that long!
So I wandered around the Accessories department for what seemed like forever and finally settled on this tan bag. I chose this one because of it’s size and that I was able to fit my foam insert in it, which I love – it makes any bag a camera bag, IMHO.
Although bulkier, it’s not much heavier than what I carry now. Sometimes adjustments like these are needed to keep our mindset where we want it.
