A balmy 56 degrees, today I got out on this windy Saturday to attempt to add to my collection of landscape photographs. No plan, just off exploring.

Driving down Prospect Rd. I found the Kosch-Headwaters Preserve, just south of Ford Rd. The sky was a mix of gray clouds and sun, giving a textured backdrop to the treelines of mixed oranges and reds.  Rays of sun poked through the clouds, randomly illuminating the cornfields moving in the breeze.

I realized today I need to pack a few more things in my camera bag. I’m getting over a cold, and in the cool air I soon became aware that I should have brought a Kleenex or two. Chapstick also would have been great, along with cotton balls to stuff in my ears, being prone to earaches from the cold wind.

My hair, though I recently shed 8 inches, kept flapping in my face and I reached into my pockets and bag for a ponytail holder.  Nope.  Sigh.

So tomorrow’s forecast is about the same, a degree or two cooler. We’ll try this again.

What else have you found useful to bring along when out shooting?

  1. Hi Kathleen,

That’s one of my favorite places, along with LeFurge Woods Nature Preserve further south on Prospect. Hope you get a chance to visit LeFurge as well, great place for birding in the spring.

When I go out shooting in the fall, I bring my binoculars, knit hat or baseball cap (depending on the weather), light scarf, lightweight gloves, and water bottle or thermos of hot chocolate. Chapstick, kleenex, and hand lotion are always in my camera bag.

    1. Hi there! Thanks for commenting.. Yes, I’ve been to LeFurge – used to attend the Full Moon Campfires with SMLC..
