While I’m off recovering from hip surgery, I’ve been indulging in many hours of reading, both paper books and ebooks (in between exercises). I recently discovered by accident how to add and remove books from the carousel on my Kindle app, the banner of titles that you can scroll through by swiping left and right. I also learned at this time that it’s called called the carousel, or I’d have Googled this a long time ago.
I’ve been looking for a way to clean up my ebooks on my tablet to free up memory, and remove books I’ve already read but still keep them in my Amazon account. I finally figured it out when I “long-tapped” one of my ebooks from the carousel (is that even a term?).
The following menu appears, allowing you to not only remove it from the carousel, but also the device itself, if you choose. Ta da!
If you remove a book from the carousel, it’s still listed under On Device in the Library section. If you remove a book from the device, you can still access it in your Amazon account by going to All Items in the Library section. In both cases, tap the book to open it and it re-downloads it to your device (if you removed it) and puts it back in the carousel, listing it first.
You can also use the first option to create Collections, basically customized categories for your ebooks. Collections can then be viewed in the menu (tap the 3 lines in the top left corner).
Ha! What could make a book nerd happier than being able to easily organize your collection?
