Better late than never! Reuben and Remnar have finally decided on the content and photo shoot for their August/September Creepy Crate. Their goal was to get it done before October/November arrives. As usual, Creepy Crate doesn’t disappoint!
We all loved the Villisca Slayers koozie shaped like a sports jersey! More detail can be found on this 1912 tragedy at the official website of the Villisca Axe Murder House.
Perfect to keep your beverage cold while you indulge in some adult coloring with Twisted Terrors! Bummer with COVID our Adult Coloring Night at our local library was cancelled long ago. This will be perfect when it starts back up!
The Patient by Jasper Dewitt graced our shipment, while others may have received Savage Appetites, by Rachel Monroe. The Patient is about a young psychiatrist who takes on the care of a dangerous patient at his new job at a mental hospital.
I’ll admit, I had to Google Alferd Packer on this one. Yes, Alferd, not Alfred. Known as the “Colorado Cannibal” he was a wilderness guide who resorted to cannibalism during the winter of 1874. When I read this, I thought I had another book in my library from a past scary box. I did! Maneater by Harold Schecter. Yikes.
I remember when I found the book The Indifferent Stars Above at a gun and knife show. The lady who sold it to me took it in her hands, looked at me closely and said, “Do you know about the Donner Party?” I replied that I did, but not the whole story. It was sweet of her to prepare me.
So now we have an ice pack to accompany the book. I’m ravenous for a cold treat. Who thinks these things up?
And the coloring book is awesome. Here are just a few of my favorite pages and favorite movies – Carrie and Halloween.
The last item in the box is another what I love to call “get along” shirts that Reuben and Remnar modeled.
Not pictured, because it is a digital download, is the last book in this shipment, Incident at Big Sky, by Johnny France and Malcolm McConnell. It’s the story of the 1984 kidnapping of Keri Swenson in Montana. I’m off to download it and check it out!
Ha! Where do you display this festive motif? Front yard, in the family room? Very fun.
The pics were taken outside the haunted wildflower garden in my backyard. Otherwise the swag accumulates on the bookshelves in my office. 😁
