It’s late and I’m sipping my nightly turmeric tea, but it’s been a few weeks and I wanted to share what media goodness I’ve taken in. I have to admit, my self care routine has mainly been basking on the patio in this warm October afternoon sun this past weekend, listening to the leaves rustle through the trees as they begin to shed their yellow, orange and red leaves. But I did get in some reading and some decent Netflix time.
Reading
Stolen Tongues by Felix Blackwell – the story was good, but that prologue will haunt me forever! Yikes.
The Broken Girls by Simone St. James – the author pretty much had me at abandoned haunted boarding school. Lots of twists, too, that I did not see coming. Good read!
Feasting Upon the Bones by Suzanne Craig-Whytock – this is a creepy story collection that I’m still working my way through! The first story, the Grandmother Tree, really got me!
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski – this was my chosen October read and wow, it is the challenge I’d heard about! It’s formatted a bit weirdly and the plot so far reminds me of the movie You Should Have Left with Kevin Bacon. Interestingly enough, I looked up the reviews for You Should Have Left and read comment about it being “ripped from House of Leaves.” So.
I am still in love with my Kindle Paperwhite and it’s allowed me to surpass and update my GoodReads Reading Challenge goal. I finished 15 books this year and upped it to 20. Much of my reading time is coming from reading until I become drowsy and drift off each night and also when I my hip doesn’t cooperate and I have to lay flat until the pain subsides.
Watching
We finished season 4 of The Sinner, which didn’t disappoint. We’ve enjoyed this show from the very start and Bill Pullman is such a great fit for that role.
Saturday night we watched Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, which was adapted from the Stephen King short story, found in the book If It Bleeds. I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it as much as the book!
Listening To
Singing Ice, by Jonna Jinton. Purely mesmerizing.. I can’t decide what I love more, the video or audio!
I hope you had a peaceful, relaxing weekend!
Fall is my favourtite season. Between the colours and the wind in the leaves that causes them to break free and travel on the air currents, love it.
We just signed up for Netflix and started watching Peaky Blinders. I feel like I watched a season or two of The Sinner. I will need to double check.
YES! Haha, I just wrote about that in my coffee share! Love this time of year. I started Peaky Blinders a while ago and never finished it. I should revisit it. There are 4 seasons of The Sinner and I thought they were all very good.
