Haha.  I saw this meme this morning on Facebook and almost shared it with, “Nope, hammock and Kindle for me.”  But then I realized – what sounded good to me for a Self Care Sunday looks like….writing.  Reading is one of my loves and I have a TBR list a mile long but writing is also a therapeutic activity I never allow myself time for, at least, recently.

Another neat idea I found on another blog (I think https://daisysmileyface.com) is Reading, Watching, Listening.  Maybe not in that order. But it’s basically what book am I reading, what show am I watching (bingeing) or what I’m listening to. A new podcast?  A new favorite song?

So here I go with a new weekly series!  My About Me page lists several topics I’ve written about, but again, life happens and we return to blow the dust off. If you’ve read this far, thank you and please comment with whatever you might be reading, watching and listening to!

Reading
I’m delighted to have recently learned that my co-workers are all bookworms and one of them highly, highly, HIGHLY recommended the 11th generation Kindle Paperwhite. It went on sale over Mother’s Day weekend and I folded. OMG.  I LURVE it. I really want to spend more time outdoors this year and I love the new location of our patio furniture. It does exactly as advertised – NO screen glare. So easy on the eyes and also when reading at night. I’m tickled. I did have to go to Libby from Hoopla though, since the Paperwhite does not work with Hoopla. I’m happy with Libby though, so it’s all good.

So!  What am I reading?

Dead Mountain is my current Kindle book and The Ballroom is my current paper book. I like to have a option for both formats. Paper when it’s a cloudy day and hammock is calling, or I’m curled up on the couch. A Kindle book I can take to the gym, read at night if I can’t sleep (no light on to bother Bill), or sitting on the patio in the sun.

Watching
We finally finished Ozark and Better Call Saul, so next up is Stranger Things 4!  I’m also always on the lookout for a good movie to watch at the Red Cross, so any movie recommendations are welcome.

Listening
I’m really enjoying Haunted Road by Amy Bruni. I love podcasts while walking at the treadmill at the gym and will now enjoy them on my commute to work, which will soon grace my life again.

Have a great Self Care Sunday!

  1. READING: Online stuff. I want to get back to actual reading, but right now, I have other priorities. Also, my eyes are starting to get bad.

WATCHING: Andrea So’s short videos on TikTok and YouTube.

LISTENING: Whatever I encounter that sounds good to me.
