After what seemed like an eternity in the frozen tundra of Michigan, today I flew down to Orlando for a week in the sun with my dad and sister. It’s 8:40am and I’m doing okay for about two hours of sleep. The plane seems roomier than what I’m used to, and the flight has been very smooth and quiet so far. I hope I didn’t just jinx myself. Oh, and we got pretzels AND peanuts!
Plus I didn’t have to refinance my house to check my luggage! Southwest Airlines FTW! We’re descending into Nashville shortly, and the pilot just announced that it’s about as sucky there as Michigan, 18 degrees (not in so many words). I can’t wait to change into sandals and shorts and sleep with the windows open, listening to the crickets.
Prior to boarding, I realized I forgot my notebook, something I always think to bring along. Believe it or not, I found this journal in one of the stores in the terminal, on sales for $4.99. The last thing I need is another one, but I wanted to have one for the week. There were a variety, from I’m all about shoes, to golf, to karma. Travel I thought fit me best.
More later, it’s time to stow our electronic devices. Y’all.
10:01am. Yep, jinxed myself. Nashville to Orlando is the Disney flight. So glad I packed my earbuds. Luckily I was able to move closer to the front for a quick escape. The next stretch was clear and sunny and I was able to capture the rural awesomeness of Tennessee.
I thought this four hour flight would be the perfect time to dig into the books I brought, plus the plethora of ebooks on my tablet. I’m more in a writing mood lately, than a reading mood, especially today, being extremely low on sleep. To my surprise and gratitude, the flight so far is quiet.
Wow, just flew under some thin cloud cover, which went whizzing by my window. That would have been cool to capture. You forget just how fast the plane is moving when the ground beneath appears to be inching along.
Descending into Orlando, where it’s 61 degrees, but will still feel like heaven. I can’t wait for the warm (yes, humid, but we’ll take it) air and the palm trees. Kind of a full schedule with family stuff, but hoping to squeeze in a visit with friends.
Aahh, Florida.. My week begins.
