Yesterday began another sunny, gorgeous day and we set out to ride Needles and Iron Mountain Road (Pigtails) before mayhem ensues next week and beyond. We rode Vanocker Canyon Road again to Nemo Road (highly recommended!) and out to 385.

We stopped in at the Sugar Shack, home of the Easy Glider.

These folks are great. Several years back, we were caught in some hail and they were ushering bikes up the hill to their pole barn in efforts to protect our scoots. Be sure to pay them a visit!

It was here we met another wonderful couple from Minnesota with an absolutely stunning 1958 Impala.

Here in town for the convention, we will look for R-Lene tonight at the car show in Spearfish!

In Keystone we ran into rain, and killed time in some shops while it passed through.
We rode Iron Mountain, but the rain set us back enough that by the time we stopped for dinner, it was time to head back. (We turn into pumpkins if not back at the campsite by dark. Kidding. Bill’s loud pipes saved a coyotes life today. Not kidding. We’re back early to avoid issues with the four and two legged kind!)

I was able to capture Mount Rushmore today, though, from the Norbeck Overlook and the profile turnoff. Very happy with the zoom on this Nikon CoolPix S3700!

And of course it’s not a road trip without mechanical adventures! Bill’s bike started running rough on the way back and changing out the plugs made no difference.

On a better note, we returned to camp and were so happy to see Jacques and Lucie, our friends from Quebec. With them were Jacques’ daughter Melanie and her husband, Jeff!

This morning, we called on our trusty friends at Dakota V-Twin for a new ignition coil, but that unfortunately was not it either. Bill took it back up and here I sit under a shade tree, keeping the contents of our cooler under control.

Just received a text from Bill, they’re finishing up and will test ride. Please pray!

    1. 🙂 Well, we won’t be here for the grand finale, but close.. 1.7 million bikes is too much mayhem for us!
