Good morning, dear friend! It’s so nice to see you. We’re supposed to get up to 70 degrees today, sooo nice for this region this time of year! Thanks for coming by to catch up.

If we were having coffee, and you made the mistake of asking me what’s going on 🙂 I’d tell you what an incredibly busy weekend we have in store. Lots to get done on this very mild day that we’re lucky to get this late in the year.

I need to take my motorcycle for its last, good wash before she is parked for the season.  Then the big task is winterizing (sniff, sniff) our trailer and putting the cover on.  I need to get up on a ladder and scrub the dead bugs off near the roof, as I can’t even reach it with our extending brush. Winterize the water tanks and clean the inside. Putting on the cover will be a feat – it’s huge. I’ll be sure to get pics.

Meanwhile, Bill is going to venture under the house to replace a pipe which we suspect is why our hot water in the kitchen is down to a trickle. Fingers crossed it’s a successful, easy fix.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how happy I am to hear that NaBloPoMo is going to take place. I just saw the official post yesterday and was starting to become concerned it wouldn’t happen. I’m excited for the challenge, but also concerned about the time involved. Committing to post a blog post every day for 30 days will cut into my already very short days. I already feel like I have about 30 minutes when I get home from work, then about 10 minutes of sleep before the alarm goes off and I do it all over again. If you have any time management tips, please share!

Halloween is upon us and I’m overloaded with excitement on its final festivities. Last night we carved pumpkins and mine turned out unexpectedly to look like the Cheshire Cat. Bill put ears on his with toothpicks. LOL

I found a delicious sounding pumpkin seed recipe that I cannot wait to try!

I decorated the outside a bit more to get ready for Halloween night. I’m trying something different this year. We live on the corner and face a main road. Our garage is on the side street. We get about 20 kids each year. I think they get to the main road, cross and go back down the street without ever passing our front door. So this year, I’m going to decorate the garage and driveway and wait for the goblins there. We’ll see what happens. I hope I don’t run out of candy.

Between the house and garage is our wildflower garden, which has now died down to look perfectly creepy! The tall, evening primrose stems resemble dead, dry cornstalks and I got the idea to turn it into a haunted pumpkin patch each Halloween, so I’m looking forward to putting on the finishing touches. I think I may even save some seeds and plant them. We may have a real pumpkin patch next year!

One of my traditions is to watch Halloween, my absolute favorite Halloween movie, on Halloween night. I have the 20th anniversary DVD.  Of course, Paranormal Lockdown is also on for a two-hour special! Will need to make room on the DVR.  Or I may watch Halloween tonight instead.

Lastly, I am over the top GEEKED to have finally scored tickets to Hallowe’en at Greenfield Village! Every year it is sold out. I am really looking forward to it and can’t wait to share photos with you.

More coffee? What do you have going on?

    1. Thanks Betty! Yes, it’s a sad time, summer is over, but it’s nice to know it’s done and all buttoned up. I really look forward to tomorrow and getting some good pics!

    1. Thanks, Irene! They do supply daily prompts but I rarely find any that suit me that I can write about. Perhaps that’s where I need to stretch.

  1. Oh how I miss having a motorcycle. Maybe someday I’ll ride again… I’ve never seen a jack o’ lantern with ears before. I think I like your hubs. Great post. Nice to meet you. See you ’round the playground.

  2. I love the pumpkins! They turned out great! I hope you get more trick or treaters this year. Good luck with the winterizing. Kudos for signing up for NaBloPoMo! I have no time management tips since my time management skills are lacking. I want to sign up as well but am worried about the time commitment.

    1. Hi Amie! I’m glad that a post can be just a few paragraphs and a photo, even. And the prompts help but don’t always align with what I want to share. Have a happy Halloween!

  3. Loved how your pumpkins turned out. I was in Illinois last year helping out giving goodies to kids in my uncle’s neighborhood but it rained all afternoon so only a few knocked for treats. I hope I can experience it again soon and carve out my first pumpkin. 🙂
