coffee

Good morning!

We’re on our way to a balmy 61 degrees here in Metro Detroit today, and in the fifties tomorrow.  It will be a nice break and I look forward to opening some windows and feeling for a moment that spring is here. And of course, another part of me is extremely concerned that snowmobile season will come to an early end. I seem to complain to everyone I know when the topic comes up that I shelled out $90 for trail permits and now I’m afraid it was for just one weekend (NYE). Snowmobile trails in Michigan close March 30th, snow or no snow. So as much as I welcome spring, I pray winter is not over yet. Okay. I won’t complain any more.

If we were having coffee, you’d likely ask if we are planning to ride our motorcycles this weekend. Very possibly! Hub’s bike needs a new stator, which he purchased a while back for days like this. We’re also planning to continue the floor project we started a few weekends back..

Tavern Oak laminate throughout is the goal! I can’t wait. As we tear up the carpet and padding we’re finding the original wood floor. How I wish I had the time to refinish it. But, we found that the large archway into the dining room was once a wall.

So we’d have to figure out something for that. Oh well. I’m taking lots of pics (I’m a before/after freak) and will capture the original floor in photos.

If we were having coffee, I’d mention how the new project floodgate has opened at work and I’ll have LOTS to do in the coming months. I’ll also probably take a hiatus from walking at work, at least the way I used to. We are fortunate to have space to walk both indoors and outdoors at work – an outdoor walking track atop the parking structure and an indoor, very long building in which the hallway is on the outside perimeter and the rooms are in the middle. It’s not meant for a walking track, but it’s the perfect environment. I’ve been dealing with some pretty good hip pain for the last several years and it’s at the point I can’t go longer than 15 minutes before I’m limping back to my cube. However, on my elliptical, it’s fine, thank God.

If we were having coffee, I’d ask what you have planned on this beautiful pre-spring weekend?

  1. I did see snow up north on some FB posts! Your floor is beautiful and I’m very jealous as that is the same floor I want throughout my home. Enjoy this beautiful weather!

  2. My husband is a motorcycle mechanic and he’s a master tech on Skidoos. He also works on Personal Watercraft, ATVs and, of course, Motorcycles. He used to race motorcycles in Europe. So it’s wonderful to find someone that plays the same way we do! The floors look wonderful, by the way. :o)

    1. Thanks so much! And thanks for stopping by! Nice to meet you.. My husband is an auto mechanic by day, but has worked on motorcycles all his life. He got the stator done and we went for a spin today! 🙂

    1. Thank you.. Yes, I’d have much rather refinished the original floor. There were some bad spots though, from an old leaks from the baseboard heating pipes (I hope!). I may have gone for it if the wall section hadn’t been there. But maybe that would have given it character. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
