coffee mugs

Good Morning and come on in out of the damp and cold. It seems like I say this every weekend! Another cold, gray day here in Michigan, luckily I have lots of indoor things to do today. I look forward to our patio coffee more and more. Good to see you! Make yourself comfy.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that we are CAMPING next weekend! It’s our first excursion of 2019 which means we need to de-winterize here, very, very soon!  Ugh. Time has just slipped away and now I’m just hoping for good weather. We are camping again at Sterling State Park on the Lake Erie shoreline. It’s a gorgeous view, but the wind can be wicked in late April.

I found a great book at my library book sale! She’s a Bad Motorcycle, edited by Geno Zanetti, with contributions from Sonny Barger, Hunter. S. Thompson and Che Guevara. Since I promised myself I’d focus on LSS studies before delving into what’s next on my TBR list, Bill is going to dive into this one first! He met Sonny Barger in person and has a signed book.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m hopeful my indoor basil and green onions do well this year. We plan to have new windows installed and I really want a garden window over the kitchen sink to replace our existing casement window. It gets lots of sun and would be perfect for growing indoor herbs since outdoor critters and the constant clean up from my maples make garden life difficult. So for now these guys are hanging out on the dining room windowsill.

My azalea is getting ready to bloom!  And every day my  lilac bushes look greener and greener.

Yesterday as I was tidying up the dining room and going through some decor I planned to donate, I had an idea. Recently while shopping I had found a black ladder bookshelf and considered it for a brief second before deciding I had nowhere to put it in my office – where I need another bookshelf. But two on either side of the fireplace?  OMG! Off to the store I went. Several hours and blisters later, we have the before and after.

I’m beyond tickled!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I have a full day planned – I need to do some trim and door painting upstairs, finish and submit my graded assignment for Week 3 of my LSS class, and finish getting ready to host Easter dinner with Bill’s mom. We’re smoking a brisket again, so it will be an early morning. I also have a few upcoming meetings at work that have my anxiety engaged, so my response to that is over prepare. I’ll fit that in somewhere.

Well, I must get moving. I wish you all a very Happy and Blessed Easter if you celebrate, if not, I hope your weekend was fun and relaxing! Stop by the campsite next weekend for coffee!

  1. Hi Kathleen,
    I love the ladder/shelf idea.
    It looks wonderful.
I thought of all my friends up in the higher latitudes today and I enjoyed my coffee out on the patio, standing in the sun.
I promise, your day is coming soon.

When you camp in those colder temps, I’m curious how you stay warm. My favorite trick is filling a nalgene bottle with boiling water and throwing in the sleeping bag with me. Everyone I’ve told about this trick agree that it turns their sleeping bag into a comfy sauna in just a few minutes and easily keeps them warm through the night.

if you’ve not tried it – do and let me know how it works for you.

    1. Thanks! I’m really happy with how it turned out. Our secret for keeping warm is to turn up the thermostat. 😀 We have a fifth wheel. Should have specified we were glamping. But, I’ve put in my time tenting and backpacking. I bet you’re water bottle worked great!

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by! Yes, it’s so nice to see everything coming back to life and finally some warm weather.. I’m really looking forward to this trip, it looks like we’ll have some nice weather.

  2. I love garden windows! I would love to have a whole side of my future house as a garden window, that would be so cool. I’m working on ideas, they might never come to life, but I would love to somehow incorporate the living area, with a garden/greenhouse (maybe both gardena nd a greenhouse.)

Thank you for the coffee, and enjoy your camping!

  3. It looks like you have a green thumb 🙂
We have also had rain here the entire weekend. A little disappointing that we couldn’t go outside for a walk.

  4. Well, the weather here is finally warming up, and I can see the daffodils and tulips getting ready to bloom. I like your idea of starting the herbs in the windowsill–I might try that this week too! Coincidentally, I also bought a ladder but mine was bamboo and doesn’t look anywhere as cool as yours. Ken keeps saying, “You can’t actually climb up it” and I keep telling him it’s decorative so we’re at an impasse!

    1. LOL I was happy to see that the shelves are made of wood and not particleboard. Still couldn’t climb it though. 😁 I’m anxious for my perennials to bloom, nothing yet!
