Good Morning and come on in! I again apologize for the weekend coffee delinquency – do you ever just get into a rut where you just want to hibernate? I haven’t even felt like reading for the last several weeks. Time to get back to the land of the living. I guess I just need to take a hiatus here and there, but in a rut I will not stay!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’ve discovered the first thing I don’t like about the WordPress Gutenberg editor – no full text justification. Left, center or right, that’s all we get, and I’ve never cared for left justification. I do have the choice to use the Classic editor plugin, but I will work with Gutenberg a bit longer and give it a chance.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m so happy Bill was able to replace the wheels on my laptop bag! Several weeks ago, I was going through the doors at work and caught one of the wheels. A large chunk of black plastic went flying and ever since, it’s been thumpthumpthumpthump across any tile or marble floor. The new ones are actually inline skate wheels and they’re completely quiet! For now, I suppose. At least now, they’ll be easier to replace, as some cutting was involved to get the original ones off.

Okay, I’m not liking Gutenberg at all. Four times I’ve previewed this post but the first paragraph does not display. Checked all the settings. ???

Hang on.

There, that’s better. Back to the Classic editor. But I did have to go back to Gutenberg and copy my first paragraph over since it was also missing in the Classic editor! (crying)  WP users, what are your thoughts so far on Gutenberg? I know, so much for giving it a try!  LOL

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I found a recipe for Chicken Shwarma yesterday and it’s currently marinating. I’m looking forward to tonight’s dinner and hope it turns out. So far nothing I’ve made is ever any good as the restaurant kind. We’ll see. It’s diet-friendly too, so my fingers are crossed it’s a keeper. Tonight I have posts to write for my Creepy Crate and Twitterstone boxes!

Soon, I’ll head out to the gym and get some steps in on the treadmill, I may even try running again!  What do you have in store for this Sunday?

More coffee?

  1. I take breaks, too. I think we all do? I do that with books and movies, too. I binge and then I stop for a time…. Glad to see you again!

Your dinner sounds interesting — I will google what it is. I’m having cheesesteaks, in honor of the Eagles playoff game (with my mom, who’s rooting for them… me, I’m rooting for the Bears). 🙂

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by! The shwarma was pretty good, I think I’ll make it again. Ah, the playoffs. I don’t think I’ll ever be seeing the Detroit Lions! LOL

  2. It’s so good to have you back Kathleen 😊 I’m sticking with the old editor, seems like Gutenberg has some bugs that needs fixing. Good idea though. Your dinner sounds delicious!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    1. Hi Maria! Thanks so much.. Yes, I never got around to kicking the tires early on, but I’m glad for the Classic editor. The shwarma turned out pretty good!

  3. So glad you’re back! And that you got a bit of a respit. You lasted longer than I did on the Gutenburg wordpress. One paragraph and it became clear I am in no mood or drive to try something that takes a steep learning. Have a great week.

    1. Thank you! Yes, I lasted about ten minutes and that was about all it took. I may play around with it some more, but it sure doesn’t seem like an improvement thus far. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Hi Kathleen,
I was so hopeful that WP’s new editor would have some nice improvements, but was very disappointed. Around mid Dec, I used it to create one whole story for my collection, but found it’s new features to be things I didn’t care to have and , like you was hoping it would give me some of the basic stuff I would like (like tabs) and to really annoy me, it takes away the word counter so I can’t easily make sure how long an essay is. I have a hard limit with my current project of 2000 words – a promise I make to my readers – so I need that counter.

I won’t be switching anytime soon from their classic and am beginner to wonder if I want to go back to MS Word, even if it does add another step to each update.

So good to have you back. You were missed.

    1. Hi Gary! Thank you so much! It’s good to be back. Yes, Gutenberg has not exactly made a great impression thus far! I liked the reusable blocks idea, but still couldn’t find where to add them once they were saved. ?? I’ll probably play around with it some more, but it’s the Classic editor for now! I hope they don’t take that away. Thanks so much for reading and have a great week!

  5. That’s awesome about the laptop bag–my dad just did the same thing with a suitcase that was broken by baggage handlers only he used a wooden wheel. He painted it black and you’d never know it wasn’t original–I love people who are handy like that!
