Okay, that pun of a title was totally unintended. Really.
It’s the first full week back from our annual two-week trek out west and it’s been relatively tame getting back into the swing of things. For that I’m grateful! I still have a final blog post to write, wrapping up the last several days of our trip and the adventures that ensued. It’s a calm, cool morning on the patio so once we’re done visiting, I’ll dive into that story. (Every year I share our trip in a series of blog posts, this year starting with this one if you’ve not seen it.) Thank you for joining me today! It’s been a minute since I’ve been a regular at the virtual coffee shop.
So, if we were having coffee, I’d tell you how I fell in love with the above mug and had to buy it for Bill, as he is the black coffee drinker. I also added the below two to our collection, from one of our favorite haunts in Hill City, South Dakota.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I signed up for Zumba classes after work every Thursday. I’m hoping to survive it and possibly pick up another class or two during the week. My hip has been doing well for the most part, but I’m taking it easy getting started. I really hope it all goes well and this is something I can continue through the winter. I’m going to need something to stave off the sluggishness that sets in when the cold weather hits.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that Friday was our annual department picnic, at a county park in Lansing. We loaded up a charter bus in Detroit, made a stop at our Southfield location to pick up more folks and headed out to Hawk Island County Park. They have a pond with paddleboats, a swimming area and a nice boardwalk going almost all the way around the water.
A family of ducks followed around a few co-workers. They’re obviously fed, since they were not shy at all!
There was also a sledding hill complete with a conveyor system. I found out later that it’s for snow tubing, and the conveyor transports the riders and the tubes back up to the top of the hill!
It was cloudy and threatening rain all day but we got lucky and it started to sprinkle just as the festivities were coming to a close. On the bus ride to and from, I made some decent progress in my current read, NOS4A2, by Joe Hill. I can’t put it down! It was nice to have several hours to read, rather than just the 15 – 20 minutes I’ve been spending each night.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I really hope to get some work done on our new fire pit area this weekend. We had the patio paved in April and stacked the old stone patio tiles to use to make a future space for our new fire pit. It’s still a stack of tiles, currently. I’ll be sure to share before and after pics and maybe even some in between!
What’s new with you? Grab a beverage and join us over at Eclectic Ali’s for the #WeekendCoffeeShare!

Looks like you’ve got your weekend’s work cut out for you. Best wishes! My husband is in the process of repairing/replacing the eaves on the house in preparation for painting, once we get the dry weather back.
The To Do list never ends! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
I love the new buffalo mug. I’m sure you have good stories to tell about each mug in your collection!
It looks like your weekend will spill well into the week.
Thanks so much for the coffee, Kathleen. I agree with you about the to-do list. I have a bad habit of turning the page and not transferring the outstanding items. I’m wading in overdue tasks. Aren’t we all?!!
Best wishes,
Rowena
Rowena! How are you? Thanks for stopping by.. 🙂
The mug you got for Bill is awesome, I want to get my hands on one (being a black coffee drinker myself) is there a link?
Hi, thanks for reading! I found it at a gas station in Spearfish during the rally. There is this Etsy link though! https://www.etsy.com/listing/512480054/black-hills-coffee-mug-i-like-my-hills
