Good Morning! How’ve you been? It’s been a while and I look forward to catching up with all of you. Grab a cup and join me on the patio. It’s the start of another beautiful summer day here in Metro Detroit.
Where do I start? I’ve been MIA with my blog since just before the GDPR deadline on May 24th where I remained a stressball and got little sleep for about three days prior. I’m so thankful for my friend Deb, an incredibly knowledgeable web developer, who via email support, walked me through everything I needed to do to be sure my site is compliant. I’m still working through my subscriber issues with MailChimp, however. Fun times!
On June 18th, I conquered my fear of needles and donated blood for the first time in about 20 years. The last time I went, I had a very bad experience which resulted in a very ugly, painful bruise on my arm about six inches long, which ran all the way around to the outside of my elbow. That was it for me and I never went back. I even for the longest time avoided lab visits at the doctor until they pestered me that I hadn’t gone for my blood draw. Then I had my hip replacement in February and had to go for bloodwork in case I needed a transfusion during surgery. I realized that if I needed to receive blood, it’s because someone donated. I decided it was time to get over this silly fear of needles and get back into doing my part again. The nurses were fantastic and I had barely a red mark on my arm. And the Red Cross has this super cool app now! Hahaha… #geek I plan to go back in August.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’ve been back to work now almost 90 days, and also got a promotion! I’m excited to see what lies ahead. July will be extremely busy as I try to wrap up my projects before we leave for Sturgis. I’m praying it all comes together and I can complete everything rather than transfer it to a colleague and add to their stress levels!
On July 4th we took a short road trip out to visit family at a Jackson-area campground. I laugh whenever I think of the words “road trip”. In the movie Wild Hogs, Doug’s wife Kelly slips and tells Karen (Bobby’s wife) that the guys are enjoying their road trip. Karen, of the understanding that Bobby is at a work conference, yells, “ROAD TRIP????” Hahaha.. I hear her voice whenever I think of it.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I finally caved in and replaced my Samsung Galaxy S4 with a Motorola Moto G6. It’s nice being able to install an app without having to uninstall 3 because I’m out of memory. And the glass screen protector they hornswaggled me into is very nice, too, no scratches, super clear. Best of all, my monthly bill really didn’t change!
So what to do on this beautiful, gorgeous day? Bill’s bike needs a starter and his spare bike is having rear brake issues. Perhaps we’ll double up on mine and go for a ride. Or, I may go and get my hair cut somewhere. It’s super long and it’s time to donate. It’s a great cause, takes a lot less time to dry and less ponytail holders to wear on the bike!
So how about YOU? I’m going to get a warm up and I’ll be dropping in your blogs very soon.
