coffee mugs

Good Morning and welcome back to the Coffee Share! Come on in, unless 48 degrees isn’t too cold for you and we’ll do patio coffee! Speaking of May flowers, my daffodils have arrived and the hostas are emerging, but the tulips appear to have taken the year off.

My windowsill basil and green onions are doing well so far. I keep turning them as they grow towards the light, to keep them even.

You may have heard about all the rain SE Michigan received lately and all the flooding that ensued.  My backyard flooded more than I’d ever seen it, and Thursday morning when I left for work, my new cedar mulch was floating on the patio. Now that the water has gone down, I swept it back, but more cleanup is in order, as it’s all over the grass. Not complaining though, we don’t have a basement, so we didn’t have near the problems others did, in their homes and also on the freeways!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that my upstairs painting project continues today, (which means it will probably turn out to be a beautiful day, since I’ll be stuck indoors), we need to make a run to the firewood supplier and sometime this weekend the first Grass Cutting of 2019 will need to occur. How I have missed the sound of a lawnmower and the smell of fresh cut grass!

We also had a fence company quote new fencing to replace our chain link and yesterday I missed his call, so now we are playing phone tag.  I’m anxious to get a number and see what our options are! I hope I don’t have to wait until Monday.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I have two Creepy Crate boxes to share! One is from my subscription and the other is a past box. I hope to fit that in tomorrow.

Well, I must be going, painting always takes FOREVER and we’re approaching noon. Thanks so much for stopping by! If you are a Star Wars fan, May the 4th Be With You, and my condolences on Chewie.

How was your week? Join us at Eclectic Alli’s Weekend Coffee Share and tell us about it!

  1. Thank you for the coffee! I read between the lines that spring has finally arrived 🙂 Sweet! Your basil looks very healthy. I once was gifted a HUGE basil plant, several years old. I managed to keep it over the warm season, and thought that it would survive in the greenhouse over the winter, it did not. It was the most amazing plant. more than 10lbs of weight. I bet your new basil taste sweeter though. I hope your weekend is fabulous!

  2. Hi Kathleen. It sounds like decent weather is finally finding your neighborhood. 48 degrees is fine by me. I’d be enjoying it with you. My girls, eyh – not so much. Both my wife and daughter are annoyed with much below 65. It sounds like you have some fun stuff waiting for you. so I’ll just thank you for the visit and hope we get to do it again soon.

    1. Thanks! I found a basil plant at Lowe’s and split it into three. So far so good! And I’m surprised at how well my green onions are doing.

    1. Pond fish, how cool! We were just talking about a pond – our neighbors down the street have a really cool waterfall pond in their landscaping. Glad you had good weather Sunday, too! It was glorious here.
