coffee

Good Morning on this early Spring Sunday!  Come on in, the weather isn’t quite patio ready though it will be soon we can meet up outside. I can’t wait! How I miss our outdoor meetups during the summer.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I survived the week!  Training is complete on the new application that will be deployed on Monday, and my early prep work paid off. I just have a few more things to do today and we should be in good shape for tomorrow for the official launch. Now I’ll have a bit of time to breathe before Release 4 is due in August of this year. My next hurdle?  Lean Six Sigma training. My first class starts next Friday!

Speaking of this week, it will be my last full week of daily commuting to downtown Detroit (turning cartwheels)! April 1st we officially start working remotely, at least several days a week for now. I’ve been waiting for this day for over 20 years. Co-workers and I went out to celebrate last week at Jacoby’s, a German bar/restaurant downtown. We are several of many of our team members welcoming this arrangement with more than open arms. Some have chosen to start later, as they still have arrangements to make. I remember back in November/December feeling like April was a lifetime away.

I did have to make some changes to determine how I will now carry my cubicle with me – we won’t have our own space anymore, it’s all first come first serve. My mini purple stapler I’ve had for years now lives in my laptop bag, I had to find a small tape dispenser and I bought some travel Kleenex. I still need to figure out how to carry my gym shoes. But it will be so worth it!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m so happy to have my truck back from the trans shop! The leak resulted in a part having to be replaced, but luckily not the whole transmission. This afternoon it’s supposed to be upwards of 50 degrees, so in addition to yard work, I’m hoping to do some vacuuming and Armor All-ing on the interior.

We won’t have the sun around too much today according to the forecast, but I’m anxious to get out and do some yard work. There is so much to clean up from the winter, leftover leaves that settle against the fence line, lots of sticks and branches from our maples. Days like this I rack up the FitBit steps like crazy and I’ll be super sore tomorrow, but it’s so nice to spend time outside.

Well, enough about me..  Need a warm up?

  1. It sounds like a great week! We just got told that there’s no way we’ll be able to do telework, so I’m pretty bummed about that, but otherwise, everything is good. I love that mug in the picture-where did you get it?

    1. Aw, bummer. Well, hopefully your commute isn’t too bad. Thanks! It was a Christmas gift from my mom in law. We each got one with our initials. I think from Kohl’s. On the bottom it says Clay Art, distributed by Formation Brands, LLC.

  2. It has been cold here the past few days but today looks promising. I hope it continues to warm up during the week.
How lucky you are to be able to work remotely. It is something that my husband wishes he could do.

  3. Hi Kathleen,
Yea! for switching to working from home.
    Yea! for no more commute.
    Yea! for dismantling the cubicle.
Huge YEA! for minimal fix to the transmission.

Not long ago we decided to sell our 12 seat van because our days of hauling dancing, speech and debating and scouting kids all over the state were done. We had the timing worked out and suddenly, we lost the transmission to a weird internal part failure the took out many other parts. Thus we had to spend around $1400 in the final months when we knew we were going to sell the van. Sigh…

So – yea YEA! for your good fortune.

    1. Haha, yes, lots to celebrate this week. I love my truck but this will likely be the last major repair. It’s up in age and miles. Thanks for stopping by to share in my joy!

  4. This is so awesome Kathleen! I’m so happy for you. Life seem to be pretty good 🙂 And spring is an exciting season in itself. I hope your new week got off to a fabulous start! Best of luck with everything. I apologize for being so late for our coffee date.
