Good Morning! It’s nice to be back with you all. We’re back from our annual trek out west to South Dakota and I’ve loads to share. Will probably spend the weekend reliving it and putting it all into words, which is what I love about blogging!
Though Bill bought us these mugs to commemorate our numerous trips to the bike rally, this year, we actually never went into the town of Sturgis. We met up with a small group of friends as we normally do and camped in a neighboring town, but this trip, like many of our recent years, was to continue work on our land. More to come!
Come on in and grab a cup!
It’s the end of my first week back, but it wasn’t too terribly crazy. Projects continue at work, and I’m excited to say that projects are finally ramping up at home! Our new, white vinyl privacy fence is finally going to be installed. Due to materials and labor shortages, we are six months past our promised install date, but I got the call on Friday that they are ready to start in the next several weeks. Yay.
My garden fared OK while I was gone, thanks to my dear neighbor watering it as needed. I found a faucet timer that I attached to our spigot, so you just turn the dial to whatever time increment you need, and it shuts off automatically. I was glad that way she did not have to be bothered with remembering to turn the water off.
I mentioned in a past coffee share that my green thumb sister sent me a ton of seeds early this year! I planted several varieties of tomatoes and peppers and the plants are huge, but just starting to flower. These are the spoon tomatoes! They are known as the world’s smallest tomato.
I was also happy to see that the Hungarian Heart tomatoes are coming in! Also seeds from my sister.
And my Hungarian Wax peppers are small, but doing well. I can’t wait to make lecso with my homegrown harvest! Although something is munching on my leaves.
And! That bean plant I thought I had? From what I’ve seen, I’m pretty sure it’s a northern catalpa. I can’t wait to see what it does!
A friend of mine reminded me of the Picture This app, which is a plant identifier. I had a ball with this app out west, and identified over 13 different plants on our land!
Well, (cracking knuckles) I look forward to digging into our adventure and begin the storytelling.. I’ll be around shortly – looking forward to see what’s been happening in your lives!
And of course, thanks to Natalie the Explorer for hosting our Weekend Coffee Share!
That’s good news about your fence. Your plants look great. The spoon tomatoes are so cute. Thank you for linking up with #weekendcoffeeshare.

I think your garden looks great! I am so curious about what you’ve been doing on your land! It must be so very exciting! Is the plan to live in SD full time eventually?

I’d never heard of spoon tomatoes. They look like Christmas decorations. Do you know yet how they taste? It seems that for it would be hard to make a meal of them for all the work needed to prep such tiny nuggets.
None of my containers survived this season….it was weird. I think the deer got brave and at my tomatoes and I think my potting soil wasn’t good. or my seeds were bad though they were new.
