Good morning and come on in! Fall is in the air and it’s a bit nippy without a few layers. We can sit on the patio or here in the dining room with my space heater at our feet. 🙂 And yes, you’ll find I’m a pumpkin spice fiend! Look what I found!
This first sip of coffee hits the spot – I’ve started intermittent fasting and only black coffee is allowed during your fasting period, which I’ve not been able to handle. I’ve found the Zero app to be quite helpful in tracking fasting times, and I’m also reading Delay, Don’t Deny, which I’ve found pretty interesting as well.
Where to start! I’ve been delinquent again as our weeks and weekends have been full. It’s posts like this that I look back on my calendar or scroll through my phone photos for interesting points to share with you. How time flies.
After my last coffee share about riding to Lake Erie to check on the algae situation, we did camp there the weekend of August 24th with my new kayak! We were across the street from the lake and I think site 88 is my new favorite! This is the view from the living room.
The wind off the lake isn’t as strong with the trees blocking it. And we still get sort of a view. I also got to do quite a bit of paddling, not on Lake Erie but the canals and lagoons within the campground. Here is a video of me paddling out alongside the campground, around a pier of rocks and into the lake for a brief moment so I could take out. The last 30 seconds I was pushed in by a wave, it was pretty wild!
I planted my mulberry tree! Those what I thought were field maples growing in my wildflower garden? Bill’s stepdad was over and said, “Oh, you’ve got mulberry trees..” OMG? Is that what those are? Sure enough! So we dug up a sapling and put it in the front yard.
I used root hormone and gave it plenty of water.. The leaves have died off but I’m hoping it will take root and come back next year.
Halloween season is here (as far as I’m concerned!) and I look forward to going through all my decor today. This year I secured a campsite at Hayes State Park for Hayes Haunting, a Halloween campout weekend. The theme this year is werewolf so I’m trying to find costume accessories for Bill and I. Everything I found at the store though looks more like Barf from Spaceballs!
Sadly, my Twitterstone box subscription ended, I think with the June shipment. But, I’ve signed up with Night Worms and can’t wait for the October box! I think it will accompany my Creepy Crate arrivals very nicely! On that topic, a Silent Book Club has been started at my library! There were just a few of us but we talked for a bit about what we are reading, where we get ideas for our TBR list, and read in blissful silence for an hour!
More coffee? I should head off soon – our local librarian is having a garage sale! I’m sure I’ll find a book or ten.
How was your week? Join us at Eclectic Alli’s Weekend Coffee Share and let us know!
Love the video–so peaceful. Ken and I just bought kayaks, so today we’re putting them in the water for the first time! Wish us luck–the last time we tried kayaking, Ken immediately tipped over and got soaked!

Yay! Hope you have a great time.. I love river trips..
It looks like you are enjoying your new kayak. I’m a big kayaker… However, when I was at Lake Erie in July, I did a little canoeing, not Kayaking. The water looks very high in your videos

I love it!! I hope to get more trips in this year. Yes, we’ve had a TON of rain in this region.. Thanks for stopping by!
A little nippy weather sounds absolutely wonderful! I actually got to experience that last night, we took a little drive up to the mountains to breathe some fresh air. It was wonderful!
Fall is the perfect time to plant trees. I’m sure your mulberry tree will do great. (Smart to plant it in the middle of a lawn. They sometimes get a little messy.)
Thank you so much for the delicious coffee!
Thanks Maria! I hope the tree makes it. All the leaves died, but I hope it’s taking root underground and comes back next year.. That drive sounds heavenly!!!
