Come on in and make yourself comfy! I’ve got coffee and tea and if you don’t think it’s too early, some of my favorite, white merlot! 🙂 How was your week?
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that this week I had the pleasure of having lunch with a dear old friend at Ford’s Garage in Dearborn. This place is so cool. I’d been wanting to try it out and it happens to be just a few doors down from my physical therapy office.
After some hemming and hawing, I folded and signed up for Penzu Pro. I go through phases of how to best organize my drafts and I’ve gone back to Penzu. There are some additional features I liked about the Pro version like flagging posts with a star, multiple journals, built in writing prompts and versioning. The app is easy to use also, so I can tap out ideas when they (rarely) strike. 🙂
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m happy to know about the location of my March Nocturnal Readers Box that I’ve been pining over for weeks. All I know is that right now it’s in Texas. I can’t wait to bust it open and share the contents with you!!
My TBR pile is growing as fast as I’m getting through it, if not faster! The #bookstagram hashtag has introduced me to so many new authors through some incredibly awesome Instagram folk!!
Speaking of which, I found an American Express gift card in an old wallet. Checking the balance, I found a whopping $4.81!! Directly to Amazon I went snagged a used copy of We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. Somebody stop me!
So I put the details of the card in, thinking it would give me the remainder of the balance owed. Nope, the order went through. ?? So I’ll see if I get an email cancelling the order or they just put the balance on my other card.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you how much (blissful) reading I’ve been doing since I’ve been off. It’s been heaven to be sucked into so many great stories. How about you, are you reading anything right now that you can’t put down?
Let me get you a warm up..

You have lots of good books to look forward too! How exciting! I always feel rich when I have many books just laying there waiting for me. Amazon is great! For books I usually check https://www.thriftbooks.com first, if they don’t have the book I’m looking for, it’s straight to Amazon 🙂 I hope you’re enjoying your time off. I recently cut a lot of hours at work (I’m a teacher,) mainly focusing on homeschooling my own daughter now. It is wonderful. It leaves me lots of times for books, and when reading with her it feels even more valuable. I hope you’re having a great weekend. We just came back from a hike in the mountains. It was a lot of snow, up to my knees/thighs most of the way. I’m happily tired now. There’s a very good chance there’ll be some reading tonight 🙂
I like Thriftbooks as well! Thanks for the reminder. The time off has been nice, I’ve been able to get quite a bit done (what I can do, while I heal). How nice to have more time to read while you homeschool! I can’t wait to go on day hikes without pain.. Thank you for stopping by!
I can imagine a time when my TBR pile is down to zero – but I do not think that will happen as I enjoy roaming the bookstores too much 🙂

Same here!! So many titles, so little time!
Hi Kathleen,
Sounds like you had a great week and thank you for sharing those photos of your lunch at the Ford Garage. I live in Australia and it really felt like I was there with you…a free flight to USA. Yippee!
I’m like you with buying books and ever expanding book piles and also read more than one book at a time but can have significant gaps in my reading so in effect am reading nothing and just doing more storing. My son is currently studying “To Kill A Mockingbird” for school and my daughter is doing Phillip Pullman’s “Clockwork”, which is a fairy story and great reading. Loved it. I am also reading “The Book Thief”. I’ve also went out on Saturday and watched my son sailing and just sat around with my husband and daughter for hours chatting and chilling out in the sun. That made for a bust Sunday arvo getting things reading for the coming week but so worth it.
Hope you have a great week!
xx Rowena
Hi Rowena! Thanks for stopping by! I’m glad you enjoyed Ford’s Garage! It’s a pretty neat place. I looked up their website and was surprised to see only one location in Michigan (Dearborn, Ford Motor Company headquarters) but many locations in Florida! LOL The Ford retirees down in Florida must be keeping them busy! I loved To Kill a Mockingbird, we read it in junior high and I should read it again, I remember not being able to put it down! How fun it must be to sail – I imagine there is quite a bit to know as well.. Have a great week!
