Hello and welcome back! Come on in out of this chilly Saturday morning. I’m glad I set the coffee pot last night, I was ready to pour when I came downstairs. 🙂 How was your week?
Today we start part 2 of ceiling repairs, which includes taping and mudding of the newly installed drywall. Here is a handy technique we of course learned after the fact: Bill was talking to a co-worker who has done drywall in the past. When installing ceiling drywall, take several strips of wood and use screws to affix them outside the area the drywall is going. Then after you get it in place, turn the strips perpendicular to the edges of the drywall to hold it and give your arms a break. Now, after knowing this, we will probably never install ceiling drywall again!
My daylilies went in last Sunday, and I’m anxious to see how they will fill in this summer. You can barely see the green sprouts in this pic. My mom, an avid gardener had given me this tool set years ago, so I spent the day with her in mind. And, today just happens to be the 16th anniversary of her passing. Sigh.
Tuesday we were blessed with temps in the 70s so I took my kayak out for the first paddle of the year! I went alone, but still had a good time. Check out my upcoming Sunday Paddle post for that adventure. 🙂
Well, I must be off. Construction must commence.. Thanks for stopping by and thank you to Natalie for hosting our weekend coffee share!
Wow Kathleen, I would not even attempt ceiling drywall myself.
Kudos to you guys for pulling that off.
Congrats and Blessings.

We really didn’t want to.. Because of COVID, many home construction companies are not doing any work indoors. We got tired of waiting and decided to take a stab at it ourselves.
And thank you! 🙂
Good luck with the houseprojects. They never end. Good thinking to take yourself for paddle. And hugs for the memory if your mom. Peace.
Thank you so much!! She was an avid gardener and it was bittersweet using the tools she gave me, but comforting at the same time. I prefer to paddle with a friend but going alone sometimes is nice too.
Drywalling is not my favourtie and doing a ceiling, nope no way. My husband and I did a ceiling once in our house renos and I can remember using our heads to help hold pieces of drywall up while we got screws in. Lots of luck to you.
Thanks for the virtual cup of coffee.

That’s exactly it! I don’t know which is more sore, my arms or the top of my head! LOL Yes, I pray we never have to do this again.
Good luck with the construction projects, Kathleen. You’re brave to tackle them yourselves. Paddling and gardening are great for the soul. Thank you for sharing your week with #WeekendCoffeeShare.
