Good Morning! Come on in out of this balmy 24 degree weather and make yourself comfy. There is Starbucks Pike Place and some hot chocolate if you prefer. What’s new?

On Monday, Mother Nature made good on her promise and also went above and beyond – we probably had about 7″ on the ground before it was all said and done Monday night. So, SO thankful to be remote Monday and Tuesday and let the plows do their thing. But, we failed to get our leaves picked up so we have a real mess under all that snow.

Wednesday on my way in I was thankful for dry freeways and tried to capture this cloud formation as I was heading in to the city.

As a side note, whenever I take photos like this, I am not looking at my phone, my eyes are on the road. I balance the phone on the steering wheel and tap the screen a few times. Whatever I get, I get.

Probably the biggest news this week is that I submitted my report for my Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification and on Thursday received word back that it was accepted. !!!!!!!!!!! I had a bit of confidence since I ran it past my continuous improvement consultant and he felt it contained everything I needed to cover. But getting that official congratulations email from the university made me jump out of my chair with a squeal of delight. Now I await my certificate and I heard I’m also getting a snazzy polo shirt!  🙂

On Friday we celebrated Opening Day with our annual viewing of Escanaba in Da Moonlight, a 2001 movie written, directed by and starring Jeff Daniels. The setting is Escanaba, Michigan in the upper peninsula and tells the tale of opening day of gun season at the Soady family hunting cabin. It’s a silly movie with lots of good one-liners. The last several years, I’ve made it a tradition every November 15th to get pasties and Leinenkugel beer (this is important to the story line) and watch the movie.

Leinenkugel and pasties

This year was special as I realized when the movie began, the setting also was November 1989. So our viewing tonight was the 30th anniversary of the story line.  Yes, I’m a dork.

So it was a good week! Today I need to spend some time writing as I’m behind on the concurrent NaBloPoMo and NaBloPablano challenges I signed up for. NaBloPablano has graciously edited the rules to 10 posts in a month rather than daily posts for the month of November.  I might just make it.

Thank you so much for stopping by, it’s always great to have you!

  1. Oh, Snow! Wow. That’s a lot this early, right? We had flakes in PA for about 5 minutes the other day. I’m starting to think the weather people are really loony — they said to spend today inside since all day it would be so cold and damp and gray. The sun is shining.

  2. Congratulations again on your certification! How awesome!!
The snow looks marvelous, and the coffee hit just right. Thank you 🙂 I hope you’re enjoying your weekend. <3

    1. Thank you! It was quite the experience! A fellow co-worker who went through the program told me to “buckle up and hang on” when I told her I had enrolled in the class. She wasn’t kidding! So glad to have it finished. Thanks for visiting!

  3. You make me want to track down both the movie and a 6-pack of Leinenkugel beer .
I’ve never heard of it and doubt I’ll find it locally.
Congrats on your certification – I didn’t doubt you for a moment.
    Oh and wow! 24 degrees.
    I’d call that cold.

    Blessings

    1. Haha, you’d probably love the movie or hate it.. Thank you so much for the kind words.. I’m so happy to be past this milestone. 🙂 According to Wikipedia, Leinenkugel is available in all 50 states! I wish that was the case with Rainier.
