Good Morning and thanks for stopping by! I apologize for my absence, I knew once I went back to work, my time would once again be consumed as I come home mentally exhausted on a pretty daily basis. Ugh. I’ve missed you all and I’m happy to have this time to catch up. How’ve you been?
If we were having coffee, we’d grab our mugs and I’d show you the new concrete work we had done. It was a looooooong and overdue improvement.
Later today I look forward to working on the patio area more, there are spots that need leveling and then new mulch.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that my garden sadly has not taken off like I’d hoped. Remember those seedlings I kept posting about? I’m thinking I may have started them too soon (plus, Spring took FOREVER to get here!). Other things are sprouting up that need to be removed so weeding is in my near future also. We’ll see what happens. My only sage plant that is doing well is the one I transplanted from last year. Sigh.
I’m ten books ahead of schedule in my GoodReads 2018 Reading Challenge (thanks to being off for so long!) and I’m really enjoying The Haunting of Hill House so far. Neither of the movies (1963, 1999) I thought were that great, but I’m liking the storyline and characters in the book. The introduction by Laura Miller also provides a sneak peek into the life of Shirley Jackson, which I found interesting.
I also ordered four more books with my birthday Amazon card from my brother and sister-in-law. (rubbing hands together)
And my May Nocturnal Reader’s Box is on its way! I’m loving the #circleofbookishfriends challenge on Instagram, also. I love discovering new authors!
If we were having coffee, I’d wish you a Happy Mother’s Day, if the title applies. I hope it’s a beautiful day where you are and that it’s a memorable one. Soon I’ll be off to visit my awesome mother-in-law with this amazing creation from my dear friends at Detroit’s Junkyard Dog. She is a huge fan of old westerns – I can’t wait to see her reaction!

Hi Kathleen,
I’m new to the coffee chat group and am looking for literate new friends who like to write and laugh. I invite you to review my coffee chat offering. My URL is near yours in this weeks list, under the title GWilson…
My current project is to collect short (>2000 word) autobiographical and funny stories from growing up about an hour north of San Francisco. While I’m looking for good clean laughs, I really want to get good at leaving my readers with vivid mental images of each event. I want them to enjoy and recall each event as if they were there with me. So I take the first person voice and treat each account as if my reader is sitting there with me and revving them up for a good laugh. If you’d like a quick 10 minute sample, you’ll find my full collection @ https://garyawilsonstories.wordpress.com/ .
I do have one story about a recipe that we’ve used camping a lot. I also include the recipe so you might want to give it a try. Hint: I make up the puree in advance of the trip so it’s ready to add in. Details are at: https://garyawilsonstories.wordpress.com/the-carrot-corn-pancake-incident/ .
I hope you’ll stop by, but look forward to hearing from you again next week regardless.
Warmest regards,
Gary
Thanks so much for stopping by! Glad to have you along for the coffee share.. 🙂 I’ll be sure to visit your blog, and thank you for the recipe!
Your patio looks great! I drooled over your Instagram photos. Maybe it’s not too late for your garden yet, it’s only May 😉
Thank you! I’m so happy it’s done. I ended up buying a basil plant and my green thumb sister told me I can root them! So I’ll try for more plants.
