Hello my dear friend! Come on in and thanks for visiting! Thanks to Shari at Writing Sparkle, I have discovered Birthday Cake Remix coffee from Coldstone Creamery! If you’ve never had a Birthday Cake Remix ice cream from Coldstone, RUN, don’t walk, to your nearest store! They are amazing and the coffee is delish!
Janelle from Breaking Moulds commented on one of my last posts, “Hip, hip, hooray!” I thought that would make a great theme for today’s visit as the day I’ve been waiting for (and talking about) has arrived! I am now 5 days post op with a shiny new hip! Thank you all again for the well wishes. I am so thankful for a successful procedure, I’m healing nicely and the pain is not unbearable. I’m so glad to be on the road to recovery and make up for all the activity I’ve missed. I enjoyed a visit from my sister and brother-in-law last night, they brought us a delicious fried chicken dinner and it was nice to catch up. I’ve also received several amazing care packages from friends – tea, snacks, candles and other goodies. So grateful for friends and family.
Bill set up my new treadmill and I was able to take a few slow steps. I can’t wait to be getting in my FitBit daily step goal again. And I’ve been introduced by a co-worker friend to yin yoga, which I look forward to trying in efforts to combat any further joint stiffness, soreness and pain as I continue to navigate this road of life. I don’t expect to feel 20, but I’m tired of feeling 90.
So this week has been a balance of resting, movement and icing my incision. To my delight, in home PT was not prescribed automatically. I was given a sheet with exercises to do and told to get up and move, don’t sit too much. Works for me! I was religious about my exercises last time and intend to do the same this time around. I will find out at my post op if they think I need PT but I don’t expect to require it. I personally feel I’m getting around quite well so far, and my incision looks to be healing.
So! I have been able to get a few things done as I’ve sat with my ice pack. I finally was able to get into my other Google account to which my YouTube channel was hooked, and move my videos to the YouTube account I use the most. On it are GoPro videos from our motorcycling, snowmobiling and kayaking trips. Check it out if you’d like, it’s in the upper left corner of this blog with my other social channels. I’m happy to have it all in one place now.
More coffee? How was your week? I look forward to stopping by for a visit. Thank you Natalie for hosting our Weekend Coffee Share!
How lovely to see your happy and positive tone in this post! I’m so glad your surgery is done and that you’re already on the treadmill. That’s fantastic! Keep going!
I am so happy to be past this! It’s so encouraging to be feeling a little stronger each day. Thank you!
Great! Congrats on 5 days being post op!
Thank you! So much to look forward to!
Glad to hear your surgery went well and you’re on the mend. I hope you have a great weekend and continue to heal and recover well. Thank you for your #weekendcoffeeshare.

Thank you! I’m so happy to be past this milestone and that things are going so well.
Gracious – Kathleen,
A new hip sounds like a huge deal but you make it sounds much less so. I hope your healing is both fast and successful.

Thank you Gary! It really helped knowing what to expect, since this is my second rodeo. The experience of course wasn’t exactly the same, but the familiarity of everything made things easier.
Congratulations on your new hip. I’m glad it is healing up so quickly. My first husband had two of them when he was in his twenties, and they worked well for him for the rest of his life. So you should be in good shape. 🙂

TWO? In his TWENTIES? OMG! Both hips or did he have to have work done on the same one? And I thought I was young to have this done. I’m glad to hear it was a successful, long term solution for him.
Hi Kathleen – how did I miss this post???? So glad to hear that your op went well and that you’re recovering well too. I had a sheet of exercises (one for the first couple of weeks and a different one for the next few weeks). I did a couple of PT classes and that was it. I’m 8 weeks post-op now and can’t believe how great my life is after all that pain. You’ll be rocking Christmas and so will I – life is very good and modern medicine is amazing isn’t it?
Hi Leanne! Feel free to follow or subscribe! Yes, things are going very well and I’m SO glad to be past this hurdle. I’m still sore but I’m getting around better every day. I’m so glad for you too!! I can’t imagine what people went through years ago before we had all these options. We are so fortunate.
